    Hornady Precision Hunter 7mm Mag

At 7mm Mag velocity, I’d try to stay off the shoulder up close, but these are generally heavy for caliber anyways so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I’m using the 178s in my .30-06 this year.

Test your truck battery and check its cables

This is a timely post. I actually had to replace a bad battery (less than a year old) last week in my truck. It was leaking and starting to corrode the terminals. Sure glad I caught it now and didn’t have to deal with it in a couple weeks when I’m headed north for a mule deer hunt.

What is your single top hunting season goal this year? I expect updates damn it.

One goal has been accomplished…get my first kill with a bow (killed a whitetail doe Saturday afternoon). Now to fill me and my hunting partner’s deer tags next month! Cherry on top would be killing a good whitetail buck during the rut in December.

Tell Me About Your Bow Kills

Well I now can contribute to my own thread… Shortest Shot - 21 yards (whitetail doe) Longest Shot - 21 yards (whitetail doe) Average Shot - 21 yards (whitetail doe) I now understand how people can become addicted to chasing animals with a bow. What a rush…even if there were no antlers involved.

    7mm recoil help

Another vote for a Limbsaver (replacement one, not a slip-on). Put one on a light .30-06 for my wife’s sake and immediately questioned why I hadn’t done it for myself years earlier. They make a big difference.
