I wouldn't build a 284 based rifle on anything besides a long action. This lets you seat the bullets out where they belong, thus increasing case capacity.

I completely agree with this. I hunt down well below zero in uninsulated boots. Depending how cold it is, I may change socks for fresh dry ones when I get hiked into wherever. It's a weird feeling taking your boots and socks off when its below zero but it works.

Wow, I guess I need to step up my tick game. I usually just pick them off as I find them. There have been instances between the dog and I that I will pick off well over 50 of them at a crack. Then do it again a hour later.
Permethrin does work well and I should use it more often.
