Early morning update. 4 huntable cows spotted before some weather rolled in. We backed out in case the wind decided to switch. I think we've nailed down our spot for the opener tomorrow. We're scouting other options the rest of the day.
Scouting day 1 down. Put some boots on some new ground. We also revisited some places I scouted this summer. Lots of fresh sign, but no cows where I can hunt. We had a few afternoon storms keep us on the run. We're going to be at a glassing point at daylight to see what we can turn up before...
Thanks. I'll keep everyone posted as we go. We're heading out with a truck full of coolers and guns. We're gonna be armed for moose, antelope, waterfowl, and everything in between. Once we get a moose and a couple of antelope down, nothing between us and home is safe.
After the results posted I couldn't stand it. I had to make a run to Colorado and check out the terrain, get a lay of the land, and scout a few areas. I wanted to see what the place looked like on the ground. I wanted to see what the road situation was, where I could camp, and maybe cross a few...

Congrats. We're headed to Colorado to try and fill my cow moose tag in a few weeks. I hope our trip goes as smooth as yours. Now go tag that Idaho bull
I was lucky enough to pick up a cow moose tag this year. I'm currently planning my trip, and am looking for some input on possible processors in the area. I'm not dead set on getting it processed there but I want to have some options lined up. On this trip we will be hunting around Fairplay...
I had a moment of panic yesterday when I realized I didn't have my tag yet. I logged in to make sure (for about the 50th time) that the credit card was charged for the tag. I'll be on the lookout for it in the mail
My son started on some reduced loads using H4895 and 120gr ballistic tips at around 7 or 8 years old. It was loaded about as light as you'd want. Velocity was just at the minimum velocity to expand a ballistic tip around 150yd. He killed several deer with it and had no issues with the bullet...
