Gotta look for one of those units where the "less than" a whole number of points still has about the same odds as the whole number above it. Should *probably* be ok.
All,
Just wanted the group input here. I've got to get a "larger animal" rifle, and I've settled on .300 WM as the caliber. And I think I've also settled on an HS Precision as the rifle, but that's what I'm seeking input on. I want to keep it under $1000, and that seems like a good, accurate...
Great pictures! I'm also a fan of the no points, completely random draws (though probably I would be a fan of the points if I had started buying them when I was, you know, 16 years old. I also like the Idaho twist of "once in a lifetime" tags.
I try to help anyone I can. But I completely agree we seem to be seeing a bunch more of the “long time listener, first time caller” posts asking for VERY specific information. It’s as if the whole world was like: well, can’t do anything indoors, may as well apply for a Wyoming doe antelope tag.
Low to mid 70s here but only bc I’ve never taken one in that class. I’m sure you already have. If I had a good 76 or so on the wall, funky all the way.
This is spot on. Are their noses as good as other animals'? No clue. Will they bust you if the wind changes? Absolutely.
Congrats on the tag! I think distance from the water is probably more based on how far you are comfortable taking a shot. They're not huge animals, so a smaller area to...
Welcome from Houston, and good luck this fall! Most likely there are a few threads on the pronghorn page about the specific unit you're in. The Wyoming hunt planner is actually a super useful tool for showing public vs private and (usually) legal access points.
Welcome! You will get plenty of opportunity for a good one in that unit. Take your time and bone up on field judging antelope. Good thread on this forum about that.
