I didn't make it out this year but just got the hunt report from my hunting partner and his buddies who are on the back home now. "Disappointing" is an under statement. Four hunters saw a total of one buck and a handfull of does in four days of hunting.
A couple of the fellows first...
Hunting all public . You are probably familiar with all of the areas I have done my scouting.
So far I have seen deer most times I've sat . Looking forward to the next couple weeks and hopefully celebrating with a cold Potosi beer!
I'm just a few miles down in the holler from LuLu's and Home a Gins in Mt Hope. This week I am trying to do justice to an Iowa archery tag . Mixed results so far.
Thanks for the writeup , great when a plan comes together.
I would venture a guess that the requirement to take all the guts out could thin out the competition a little on that piece of block management .
My place is about 25 miles north of Potosi. Makes for a nice afternoon to visit the brewery eat at the bar , get on the Cassville ferry cross the Mississippi and make the loop back up through Iowa. Beautiful country that is !
Wisconsin archery, after the shot I thought I heard the deer go down .
A few minutes later I hear lots of antlers clashing and more brush breaking . Turns out this buck took a beating from a rival even with a arrow through the heart !
I have been getting steady trail cam pics of a flock of 5 hens . Not a poult among them.
I am right across the Mississippi from Gellar.
A few areas of Wisconsin are doing just fine , especially in or near towns. My areas seem to be in a steep nose dive.
I was checking a game camera and as I reached behind the tree to undo the strap I felt some thing soft and moving. The first thing I thought was a Bat, then this guy leapt off the tree trunk and let me take its picture!
A fair number of Iowa plates to be seen in southwest Wis. for our gun seasons . Fact is there is quite a few Wisconsin guys have moved across the Mississippi just to be able to hunt Iowa every year as a resident. Coming back and also hunting Wisconsin with The low cost of Wis. non res. tags is...
They really shine on rainy days. I was doing some public land scouting, figured any sheds would have already been picked up but was pleasantly surprised.
Nice job getting it's head turned up into the hole. Have had where the northern was all played out but just couldn't get them turned up and had to say good bye to them . On the other hand I have had several dog fish swim up into the hole to take a look at me this year. Just a matter of getting a...
Crazy what western hunting , actually nearly all hunting is evolving into. Different world then just a few years ago. I wonder what is in store for the next 20 years. Same with fishing.
