With ice fishing almost over for the year , there is one spot at the base of a big shady bluff where the ice just will not give up. Yesterday may have been the last day, but it was a good one!
I would check out that crack in the left fork, if that crack extends into the main trunk do not try to cut through it if there is tension or pressure on it.
Easiest way for me to wring a bird or rabbits neck is to grasp the neck close to its head with my left hand . with my right hand grasp the head and twist until I feel the neck break . May have to kneel on the body of a hard Flapper until you feel the snap. The head usually stays attached and the...
Stone sheep story : My sister's ex husband ,Casey was invited by his company on an all expenses paid Stone sheep hunt back in about 1980. Casey was in great shape back then and he and his guide hunted day after day . Spiked out and survived on peanut butter and bacon sandwiches part of the hunt...
Here is a photo of the good ol days back in 1963 .
Deer camp in Forest co. Wisconsin, a few years before I was old enough to hunt. My Dad on the left, my uncle Al ( he bought the 160 acres for winter logging in 1951 for $800.00 ) Camp icon Barney. He was 91 years old his last year going to...
It's been slow for me on the Mississippi back waters, but if I can get a few of the big shouldered jumbos it's worth it !
Have to really watch the ice conditions. Some places have more than expected and some much less.

Mostly oldies, and of course my favorite Clint Eastwood films

Thanks for taking us along. When the drives are well managed and are familiar with most of the hunters they are a very exciting way to hunt .
Not many driving crews in Wisconsin these days. The land is just too fragmented. The average farm here is a lot fewer acres than a ross the Big River...
Here in my part of Wisconsin the rut is usually pretty much winding down by the time gun season starts. This year seems to be a bit of an exception. This buck was third in line behind a panting doe.
one of my neighbors keeps pretty extensive photos and a list of shooter sized bucks. After...
Up in the tree stand before shooting light , a doe and a fawn come across on a well used trail 15 yards in front of me. soon after a young buck grunting following them, shortly after that a much bigger buck is following grunting away, still before shooting light.
About an hour later I see...
