    Plate ‘em up

Deer tenderloin wrapped in homemade bacon and grilled to medium-rare, roasted baby potatoes, and brussel sprouts roasted and finished with a balsamic/hickory syrup glaze and homemade bacon bits. Drizzled a little extra of the glaze on the deer and it was spot on.

    Old school

I was selected for a unique hunt this year. It's a population control hunt on some limited entry public land. Does only with an 8 deer quota for myself and guest this weekend. This morning I decided to hunt old school. No stands, no blind, just me and my old rolling block that was built in...

HELP!!! Plumbing Issue, Main Water Supply Line

Honestly a combo of things. I'm more familiar with working with pex, I used it to re-plumb the whole house. It's supposed to be tougher and I'm worried about the bridge crossing freezing at some point. If it does, hopefully it wont be an issue with the pex

HELP!!! Plumbing Issue, Main Water Supply Line

After looking around online, we decided to go with 1.5" pex. Able to get it drop shipped for about $1.25/foot, and a crimping tool for $120. I would rather have used local vendors, but price difference was crazy. If pressure is a problem, I can add a pressure tank and pump in the basement...

HELP!!! Plumbing Issue, Main Water Supply Line

Thanks guys, great info. I'm gonna back up and look at 1.5" pvc. Similar in price to the 1" pex. One of the attractions to pex was ability to buy in 500' and 300' rolls to minimize joints. I also have a bridge to cross that will have about 50' of pipe exposed. I had planned to insulate the pex...

HELP!!! Plumbing Issue, Main Water Supply Line

This one is a little off topic, but I thought someone on here could help with an issue I'm having. I'm running a new waterline for our house. It is 1800' from the meter to the house. Little to no elevation change. I had the county install a 1" meter at the road. They tapped an 8" line on the...

    Finding sage grouse

Honestly, their range is so big it's like hunting a needle in a haystack without a dog. Drainages you ve seen them in are good. I usually leave camp with a shotgun and rifle in the truck. If I run into birds while looking for an antelope, I stop and bird hunt awhile. Good luck

    ID Expanded Pheasant Stocking

Unfortunately the best answer I have ever heard concerning stocked pheasants in many locations is: "would you rather hunt released birds, or not hunt pheasants" Stocked birds will not reproduce or "help" an existing population of wild birds. They are useful for put and take type hunting...

    Improved Euro Mount technique

I've been making my own euro mounts for the past several years and have slowly refined my technique. It's slow, but provides a quality mount that isn't too labor intensive. I've tried boiling, but prefer the quality of skulls cleaned with cold water maceration. Here's a run down of changes I've...

    Some broken hearts never mend.......

He was going too. We needed help getting him down and went back to camp. That's when we found out someone else in camp had shot him. Randall let the guy that originally shot him tag it. They were able to cape it, but I dont remember how much of the meat was salvageable.

    Some broken hearts never mend.......

Posting on another thread made me remember this story: In 1997, my brother and I took our first trip out west for a rifle mule deer/elk combo in Colorado. My brother Randall had always(still does) had a fetish for big freaky mule deer bucks. The year before our trip, I don't think I made it an...

Worst thing to happen to your rifle while hunting

My 1st trip out west was to Colorado for a combo elk/mule deer hunt in 1997. We flew to Denver then rented vehicles and drove into camp. Next day, we checked the zeros and scouted. The weather was great, 50s during the day and clear. When season opened, a winter storm blew in bringing 18" of...
