    Gelding Buck?

I shot a buck 10 years ago, close to Gurnsey Wy that was very similar. Used the gutless method to quarter him, and never saw any testicles

To protect eagles, hunters and conservationists rebuild old alliances (non-lead ammo)

Does it happen? Absolutely. Is it limiting eagle recovery, no. I used to volunteer at one of the largest raptor hospitals in the SE. Birds were flown in from across the country. Eagles came in with botulism from cropping up too much, transmission line electrocutions, gunshots, vehicle strikes...

    A growing problem

I'm sure you are right. Most tragic stories don't just happen overnight. Honestly, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with those situations all the time. But it was shocking to how rampant the problem over there was 1st hand. Like has been mentioned in some previous posts, I live in Alabama...

    A growing problem

I'm sure there are lots of examples that go both ways. I had a timber sale last year right outside of Atlanta. We had to clear a homeless camp before starting. 1 middle aged woman we removed was a victim of domestic abuse. She lived in a tent, showering in the campground, and worked a full time...

    Leupold 1400Rxi Rangefinder

This year I upgraded my rangefinder and picked up a leupold rx1400i. I wanted one that should allow me to shoot terrain at longer distances to plan stalks. Initial impressions are great. To be a cheap base model, it would routinely pick up animals and terrain out past 1000yds. The other guy...

    Husky mistaken for wolf

We had a guy shoot a black german shepherd and bring it into the check station. Dumbass biologist took its picture and claimed it was a coyote. It weighed 75lbs. As his supervisor, my eye twitched as I explained the difference to him and why it wasn't a good idea to put it on the bulletin board.

    One last trip

Thank you for the kind thoughts and prayers. It's something we all have to go through with family. I miss him dearly, but I know how sick he was. His happiness the past few months does ease the pain. I'm glad we were able to pull it off.

    One last trip

My older brother had been going through some health issues throughout past year, so we had to adapt our plans for this fall’s hunting season. With his limited mobility, we settled on some landowner vouchers in Utah for a mule deer hunt. It was not a “trophy” area, but we hoped plenty of deer...

    "Greenwashing at it's best"

A friend of mine used to sort the recycling, then put it in her husband's truck for him to drop off at the recycling center. After 20 years, one day he said "Karen, can you stop putting the recycling in my truck? I just throw it in the dumpster at work. Stopping will save us both time." Haha

    Show me your Subaru

I just hijacked my wife's outback to drive to western Utah for a deer hunt. Slept in it when I was there. 4,000 miles cost me $450 in fuel. Including hauling a hitch haul filled with 2 deer home. I was hoping that if I bought a matching set of Sitka gear I would qualify as an honorary resident...

    Recent project

Finally found a load with 150 gr Accubonds that it likes. My other 30-06s have really done well with ramshot Big Game. This rifle prefers H4350. 300 yard tests.

    Canadian Lake Packing list

We should be about 7 hours N of the border. Our cabin is only accessible by boat, so I expect anything we need will have to be packed in when we check in. Just hate to pay crazy prices for minnows we may or may not get around to using. I guess worms and leeches keep better, so they may be the...
