Howa Apline MTN rifle - .308

Just tried filling the mag......dang it! Holds and feeds one round OK, but hangs up on 2 or 3. Gonna have to shorten them up

Howa Apline MTN rifle - .308

Yes, with OAL at 2.94 they still fit in the mag. I have just the standard floor plate style, not the extended mag. I was worried if it would fit, have run into issues with .300 WM and Winchester rifles in the past, had to use them as single shot.

Howa Apline MTN rifle - .308

I would start low and look at your primers as a gauge for when you are nearing dangerous pressures Or....switch powders and go with this info https://load-data.nosler.com/load-data/264-winchester-magnum/

Howa Apline MTN rifle - .308

I am sure there are many ways to do it, but this is how I learned and still do.. Measure chamber for total OAL with the bullet I will be using - then deduct 0.02 and set press for that OAL Get in the books or online - I use Nosler bullets for the most part, so I look at specs for loads on...

    Back Problems....Any success stories?

Thanks for the informed opinion. Just for my own clarification.....once the disc is herniated, and you can't feel your leg - surgery is the best and only option ( following verification of herniation via MRI )?

Idaho Second Deer Tag - 2016/2017 winter implications

Great point, I actually mentioned that to the IDFG employee I spoke to this AM.

Idaho Second Deer Tag - 2016/2017 winter implications

I guess I kind of bring it down the to simplest of terms - Regardless of quotas, etc., if they don't allow sales of "second tags" to either residents or non-residents, this will result in a decrease in harvest and decrease in revenue. If they continue as in past years, harvest and revenue will...

Idaho Second Deer Tag - 2016/2017 winter implications

My understanding is that both resident and non-residents have been able to buy a second tag ( general season ), in addition to their initial controlled or general season tag - I would suggest that no "second tags" be sold to either resident or non-resident this year

Idaho Second Deer Tag - 2016/2017 winter implications

As most of us know, Idaho has allowed residents and non-residents to purchase an additional general season deer tag ( at non-resident price ) for the past several years. When I called IDFG and inquired about this option for 2017, it sounds like the jury is still out. Apparently the...

Late night visitor's butt - trailcam photo

I agree, have had quite a few brands, now only buy Bushnell - best overall clarity/quality I have found. You want to look for a sub 1 second trigger speed ( which most of the Bushnells have ) Definitely a big kitty! Hard to tell, but he ( or she ) looks pretty stout

Howa Apline MTN rifle - .308

Purchased this rifle last fall, and finally got around to shooting it a bit and working up a load. Put a Leopold VX3i from Schmalts on it, and was real happy with the results from its first use yesterday. Found it to like 45 grains of Varget as the best recipe for a 165 Nosler Accubond, loaded...

I appreciate you all sharing your stories, lessons learned and encouragement. Had the second surgery yesterday about noon, again 100% relief when I woke up from anesthesia. Feel like a million bucks today, and went back to work this am ( I sit behind a desk ). No lingering nerve pain, no...

    Back Problems....Any success stories?

I have been basically healthy all my life ( 48 yo now ), other than a fall off a house with some broken bones several years ago, I have never been a patient in a hospital, been on medications, nothing. I always felt like I could lift more than should be able to for my size, whether that was...
