First-time elk hunter... I need help
All but 2 units in Region 4 IIRC, but keep in mind it’s not good on National Forest or State WMA lands. This really cuts down on available hunting acreage, provided you cannot access private land.- belly-deep

Elk Rump Roast
The sirloin tip makes a great, almost prime rib-like piece of meat when cooked in the oven to medium-rare. I get a large rectangular piece of the hindquarters too. I have no idea what cut it is, but it has a really large grain to it. That stuff I put in the crock pot with beef stock and cook...- belly-deep

I get nervous when an entity that could exist, essentially, forever is involved. Local farms/ranches are pretty dynamic. One generation lets hunters on, the next does not, and later the place is sold to someone else who allows hunting again. The Wilkes are a prime example. Much of their land...- belly-deep

You'd probably hear a dozen different things if you went and talked to the locals, but the crux of it probably comes down to the same reason family ranchers/farmers don't like Hutterite colonies. They have buying power that most family ranches don't have, so when the neighbor's land comes up...- belly-deep
