Trying to take an alternate route back to camp after stalking and shooting a caribou. It may lead to reaching a cliff you can't get down, having to retrace your steps, and getting back to camp at 3 AM with the first load of meat.
Killing a moose 5 miles from camp
Killing a moose on the other side of a tall ridge from camp
Killing a moose at 5 PM
Killing a moose with an out-of-shape brother as your pack out help.
On second thought, maybe I do recommend all those things.
"Let's go kill something" is very different from "let's go kill shit." You're literally calling the animals you're going to attempt to take "shit." Big difference IMO.
It's fantastic. One of my favorite meats. Anybody who says they don't like bear meat probably effed it up, either by not getting it cooled off quickly in the field (spring hunts make this challenging, but still very doable), or cooking it improperly.
I'm picking up a new Slik 624 tripod, but it seems that nobody runs Slik heads. Are Slik heads subpar? What head do you guys like? As much as I wish I was willing to drop $329 on an Outdoorsman, I'm looking for something under $200.
I prefer a pan head to a ball head, and I need something fair...

It doesn't look like you can buy a bonus point if you're not eligible to apply for the drawing, so no 12 year olds with 11 points or successful drawers getting back in with 7.
I'm in O&G. My boss' position made it through the downturn, so I'd expect it to be secure. The role is basically my current job, but at an area level vs a district level.
Here's the whole situation. I'm in line for a new opportunity if I stay here too. Pay would be about equal either way. I have no debt (save the mortgage, which finding housing that's comparable in the Denver area looks like a challenge). The non-career upside to moving would be social life...
I have an interview on Friday to fill my boss' position in Denver. There is a strong possibility that I will get an offer. It would be a great opportunity, but I'm really torn about leaving Montana. I love being able to get out in the country within 30 minutes of town. I can go shoot my bow...
