I forgot this thread existed until today. So I wouldn't say that I "switched" but based on feedback here I did add a some Sevr Ti 1.75" 125gr. to my quiver with good results. I shot a bear last fall in Canada and did catastrophic damage and massive hole with the Sevr, complete pass through at...
Not a book but listen to all of Remi Warren’s podcasts (Live Wild Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, everywhere) focus on the elk episodes and it will
Be time well spent.
If you find yourself sitting to glass, this little thing is worth it's weight in gold:

Essentially an adjustable monopod that really makes your binos sturdy for glassing and doesn't get in the way like a tripod can. Clearly not useful standing.
Took a day or two to get the lay of the land but ended up running two baits up in the panhandle and got it done on a medium size boar. First observation is that there are a LOT of ATV/UTV/dirtbikes, like a lot so expect traffic. Second was that there were a lot of folks running hounds as well...
+1 on Starlink in a small form factor like a phone. I am in middle of nowhere Idaho getting 300 mbps in a tight valley/canyon/what we’d call a holler in Ky.
Not that I’m making money on this thread or anything but this wasn’t about the emergency feature but ability to send “how are the kids doing?” From the backcountry without a $70 a month subscription.
The subject says it. iPhone users will be able to send iMessages via satellite when out of service starting with IOS 18. This is a great addition to the current SOS by satellite functionality of the newer iPhones. I will more than likely be retiring my inreach.
Save the “welcome to hunt talk” posts I post here all the time LOL. I filled my MT tag and the wife, kid and I headed up toward CDA from Missoula. Currently camped in ———-. Will shamelessly take honey holes but will settle for a bit of info on access. Seems like checkerboard but without the...
I have been drooling over these at Scheels. The fact that you can easily hand hold 20x binos is mind blowing to me. I’m afraid of the warranty/quality and of how they will work in marginal light (early and late). Thoughts?
I'm just getting in to turkey hunting a bit and want to have options besides my bow although that will be my primary weapon of choice. I have a Remington 1187 and will be shooting 3" TSS. Any opinions on a good choke tube I should be looking at?
Fair enough, he did say MT. I only mentioned because sometimes people don't know how close ID is (plus the bear tags are $45 and you can buy two). Two hrs west over Lolo pass puts you in the thick stuff, not the interstate by any stretch.
If you are interested in going 2 hrs west of Missoula I know a guide that can get you guys in under the $4k mark and hunts over baits and with hounds. PM me if you want more info.
