    Struggling in Idaho…

Glassed up a herd this evening (found a pretty good glassing knob) they were 2 miles away and just no way to make it. Going in the morning bright and early. Think I can get to a vantage 700ish yards from where I left them this evening and hopefully pick back up and make a plan.

    Struggling in Idaho…

Saw bulls with cows the day before season so agree they hadn’t peeled off to the hell holes prior to this week.

    Struggling in Idaho…

I am in McCall with the family and trying to make the best of evening hunts (elk B tag) while working from home during the day. I had several locations picked out prior to coming and apparently picked out some good morning spots to be because the first was loaded with hunters and the second had...

Need advice on a tripod and head

This is intriguing to me. Works well seated and standing? I think this and an added arca rail on my gun makes a ton of sense.

Need advice on a tripod and head

Dang tripods are expensive…I have been glassing off of a $20 Amazon basics camera tripod for the past 3-4 years. Terrible to try to move smoothly and just generally garbage. No way could you shoot off of it. I have the Spartan connections on my guns that I use with a Spartan bipod which I love...

Browning X Bolt Trigger Spring Kits

I have had one sitting here for over a year. Did you find it pretty simple to change them out? My x-bolt hells canyon speed is an absolute tack driver, accurate to at least 800 yards (the furthest I have shot it) a slightly more responsive trigger would make it even better.

Thinking of switching from fixed blade to mechanical broadheads

Yeah, that was the original post, was considering moving from Kudu fixed single bevel broadheads to mechanicals to get a better blood trail. I posted a follow-up, didn't switch but added some mechanicals to my quiver.

    Magnetic Bino Harness Interference

Yea they can cause interference. Resulted in a very long day for me one time. As long as you know it’s a possibility you could hold your phone further away I’m sure. I switched to the Kuiu from a badlands and glad I did. No magnets. Super quiet.

    Hit/lost bull

good call watching for magpies, I had that happen on a red stag this spring in Argentina. Spent an evening and another full day tracking/grid searching after my guide insisted that we push this animal after an archery shot into the shoulder blade. I knew there was a Kudu single bevel in there...

    Tracking injured muley

Also will say that guts at impact site doesn’t mean just gut shot depending on angle. I shot a deer quartering slightly to me and the arrow was straight guts but the deer died in 40 yards.

    Tracking injured muley

Amen, when in doubt BACK OUT!!! You did the right thing, he is dead, you'll find him since you didn't really push him.

RIP Garmin Inreach … iPhones to allow satellite messages in ios18

Works well for situations like hunting where you are walking and can point at a satellite. Not for driving applications.

    Eldx vs evostrike

I love ELD-X they flat kill stuff. That being said, I have started putting 2 ELD-X in the bottom of my mag and the top one is a Hornady Outfitter. They zero the same at 200 and if I’m going to shoot beyond that I will rack in an ELD-X so my ballistics work out.
