I’ve long had the intention of getting a Traeger, but the recent reviews on their website show the quality going downhill. Has anyone purchased one recently than can corroborate or refute that?
Hi everyone,
I am in the market to buy my first ever pellet grill to be able to smoke meats. I’ve only ever used propane grills up until now.
I’d love to get your recommendations on which brands/models to consider before taking the plunge with a big purchase.
I’m the same way at this point in my life. I shoot 2-3 rounds prior to the season to ensure the same zero is held, and that is it. I have aspirations to hand load some day so that might change, but we’ll see how feasible hand loading is when the time comes.
You hit it here. Time to evolve and find new hunting partners in ID with similar hunting styles. It was a nice setup in CO when you lived out east and didn’t know anything different. Now it’s time to capitalize on being a resident in an outstanding place to hunt.
Figure out how to get your dad...
Congratulations! This is so great to have this happen after deciding to take the plunge and purchase your land. You are doing exactly what I have long dreamed of but never been able to pull off. That is going to be such a great place to hunt every year!
Harder to see a collar at 700+ yards. It’s crazy to me the ranges both of these hunters were shooting at. Especially if you can’t reload and relocate the target yourself.
At first I thought you were a bit crazy to be leaving NW CO for this trip, but it does look really fun so I’m coming around on the notion. Glad to see you having some success up there!
In the deadfall scenario all my mind would think is “be careful and don’t get hurt because that would be bad”. I am conscious and careful, but I don’t go any further than that in my mind. Maybe that means I’ll be unprepared if something actually happens, but I am focused on preventing it from...
Thanks everyone for the congratulatory notes, I appreciate it.
I have one follow up post to share.
While I was preparing for my trip I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out how to get the meat from CO to MT. I ultimately decided that I “needed” to buy a Yeti 210 cooler. Needless...
I’m not going to lie, it was tough waking up at 4:00 am yesterday to get back after it after 7 consecutive days of grinding with zero shot opportunities. While the blood moon was a made up positive sign, my spirits were low. It just felt like I would never see a bull in shooting range and that...
I’m a day late in posting about yesterday. To sum it up, it sucked with the exception of one thing.
I decided to circle back to where I did to start the hunt and tackle the long drive in hopes I would only need to do it once and be done. What I didn’t take into account was that this was a...
Archery season has come to a close. The morning hunt started off extra early and it was great to be out with friends. The hunt was a combination of driving to a lot of different places like the pictures below to see if there was anything there, and hiking through hell holes with blowdown...
Not much to add today. Tried out a new spot in the morning and didn’t see anything besides six deer. It was crazy how much human activity and construction traffic was going through where I was expecting to see moose. So much for that idea. That four miles of hiking and 1000 feet of elevation...
