For those of you who are interested in learning more about how we got to this point, I highly recommend you read this book. I read it in grad school and it was eye opening how much power the executive branch has just assumed without being challenged by the other two branches, well until now that...
Fair enough. There is no doubt that this ruling reduced the power of the executive branch, but I think that power was transferred more to the legislative branch compared to the judicial branch.
It is more so returning the power to where it always should have been.
I don’t think this transfers any power from the legislature to the judicial. The legislature still has the power to pass any law it wishes to. If it doesn’t agree with the way the judiciary interprets its own laws, then it can rewrite them or write new laws. That is the power of the pen that...
I’m cautiously optimistic that this was a net positive development. I agree that it will be a bumpy road in the near term as the balance/obligations between the Executive and Legislative branches normalizes, but I think it will be better once we are past the hard part.
Congress responds to...
Fair point. I know exactly what you are talking about having seen the same dynamic at the highest levels of the Department of Defense between federal employees and presidentially appointed officials whose sole purpose was to implement political agendas. This is why it is supposed to be so...
I used that word purposely because it has been thrown around a number of times in this thread depending on which concern was being attacked with a trite put down.
I commend everyone for caring about the resource, it’s just the method of delivery that I think could use some refinement.
I wasn’t suggesting the HT populous be apathetic. I just don’t see how it is productive to slam FWP at every turn because it is perceived to be so incompetent. How are those types of comments productive when trying to discuss/improve the plan that was introduced 90 pages ago?
I’m on the precipice of moving to Montana after concluding my career in the military and I get that “things aren’t as good as they used to be”, but holy cow there is a tremendous amount of outrage towards FWP and sniveling going on in these 90 pages. I’m just glad to be able to go hunting again...
It’s called “path dependence” and is absolutely a known human behavior. Once you are far enough down a certain path (e.g. have an iPhone and an iPad), you are more likely to continue down that path (e.g. Apple Watch and ear buds). I have everything Apple except for my laptop, which is a sort of...
After seeing the draw statistics I’m feeling pretty good about my approach. I burned 10 points in a unit that people with 9 points had a 62.5% to draw. I was the lowest guaranteed applicant in the regular draw.
@Lov2hunt, I recommend you attend the San Fernando Valley RMEF banquet next spring to make some contacts in SoCal who are gun/hunting friendly. Better yet, volunteer to join the committee to both give back to conservation and make meaningful connections at the same time.
