It definitely gets better, but is still expensive. Daycare is the worst though. I’m still in the middle ground before sports and cars start becoming part of the equation.
Hey everyone,
My family is getting a new dog and I wanted to see if there are certain brands of dog crates I should take a close look at or avoid. The crate will be in the back of the truck bed with a topper. Main pursuits will be waterfowl and upland. Any insights would be much appreciated.
It was great to read everyone’s different viewpoints and that so many people are thinking this far ahead. I’m similar to many others in that I am 40 years old and plan to retire between 52-56. I’ll be retiring from the military next year so my family and I will have Tricare Select until my...
My goal is to work from JAN-MAY when I’m “retired” for at least a few years to make some money and then be free for camping/fishing/hunting to my heart’s content. The trick is figuring out a way to do that. I’d love to position myself to be a consultant so I could pull this plan off.
I agree with your viewpoint. It’s never a waste to explore new country and better understand what it looks like on the ground compared to the computer screen. Yeah, a bull sited in June will probably be elsewhere in September, but you at least have the starting point and general vicinity to...
Picked up my moose tag today! Who would’ve thunk a thin piece of plastic would hold so much significance? Feels great to see it up on the bulletin board in the kitchen!
Your story has me glad I dialed down my sports activities earlier. I played sports through my 20s and then stopped. I am 40 now and I recently thought about playing rugby again until I realized “Nope, not worth it. I want to be hiking mountains when I’m older.” It’s hard to balance that...
Yeah, I hear you on MSG weighted points. I should have been more clear in my post. I was referring to deer/elk/pronghorn. Check out these stats for elk. Look at all those top point holders who didn’t draw. They could draw any tag they wanted. Go hunting already!
I love that series. I’m stationed in the Netherlands so I have visited Normandy once and Bastogne three times. One of those visits included the Easy Company fox holes during the same window as the battle in December with it cold and snow covered. It really made me realize how miserable that...
I feel very fortunate to have drawn with 3+15. The change 5 years ago to not front the money completely hosed people who had been applying previously. Look at how many applicants there are between 3+0 and 3+2 and how many tags they drew! It all comes down to how low a random number you get...
So everyone who has the app and a tablet, please download it on your tablet as well if you haven’t already. Landscape mode would be soooo helpful when sitting on the couch “watching tv” with the wife.
I never thought I’d say this, but thank goodness I didn’t draw the RFW elk tag I applied for. I don’t think I would have been able to handle that on top of my moose and deer tags.
Holy crap, my points got zeroed out. Looks like I drew unit 66 3rd season with 5 points in the hybrid draw! I’m honestly nervous to share this news with my wife after yesterday’s “once in a lifetime” conversation. I don’t know how I am going to carve out the vacation time, but I am sure as hell...
My luck continues with my card getting hit for deer. The big question is whether it is a 3rd season hybrid draw or a 2nd season 2nd choice. There is a big difference between those two possible outcomes so I’ll have to wait for the email to know for sure.
