I may be missing something here, but changing from (say) a 40 mm to a 50 mm scope would require that the big scope be mounted 5mm (about 1/4 inch) higher than the small one. You must be a better shot than me if you notice the difference.
We have lots of panhandlers here in Houston too, but welcome...
Sorry, I couldn't resist. Welcome to the site. Lots of useful and interesting knowledge here. Plus links to podcasts, videos, etc. I try to avoid watching more than one video a day or it chews up a lot of time.
IMO this looks like a prime example of Randy's advice to hunt the areas with difficult access. Having to sit through a lecture on how to hunt elk and be safe will keep a lot of people away. Here is a landowner looking for hunters because they have too many elk. I may check this out myself.
As an ex-New Jersey resident, I hunted the Great Swamp NWR for almost 20 years. NWR was 10,000 acres of woods and swamp, and had plenty of deer if you were willing to work. The hunt regularly drew protesters, but they did not pose much of a hassle. One warm December afternoon as I was...
I have the modestly named Dragonslayer, which is easily the best pack I have owned. This one looks about the same size. The DS will handle all the weight I am interested in carrying at one time. I have been using the DS to hunt with and keeping a frame pack in the truck, but have found that...
Trying to select an antelope unit in Wyoming, and using Eastmans to sort through the possibilities. With 3 points I am not going to get a great unit, but would like to use public land and avoid the crowds (dream on). Trophy quality is irrelevant.
The MRS tables in my digital Eastmans look...
Our gun club in Houston uses PayPal to process membership dues. According to the club (and since one of our directors is on the NRA BOD I believe them) the antigun stuff about paypal is bogus.
I am hoping to get the phone call from the IRS claiming I owe money. I plan to have some fun with...
According to the NASA website I looked at, the path of totality crosses the lower 48 from Oregon to the atlantic, and the duration is within 5 seconds of the max duration over a span of 1100 miles. So there are plenty of places to see it.
I saw one in 1997 while I was on a business trip to...
I have two Tikkas - plastic stock in 7mm Mag and wood stock in 6.5x55. Other than mounting scopes, I have not touched them. They both shoot under an inch at 100 yds. Proof of the pudding is in the eating.
If you put up good content, they will watch it. Thanks for spreading the message, and for a raft of fun to watch videos.
We still don't have cable TV, so I can either watch the DVDs or go on-line. Having all this on-line is great.
Thanks again.
The guidelines I have seen say tongue weight at least 10% of total trailer weight. I have rigged a bathroom scale and a 2x4 as a lever to check tongue weight. If you can lift the tongue, it's too light
