for the 1000th time - Caliber options?
I am with Icetracer 308 is short action and should kill anything on the continent out to 400 yards. 30-06 only has a 100FPS advantage over the 308. Out to 400 yards there won’t be a difference. Consider the balance of the 308 and the short action advantage. It’s splitting hairs but the 7mm-08... -
Bonus Coyote

Idaho Unit 32-1X
I drew 2165. Draw odds were decent for this tag and historically success rates have been around 4-5%. I am sure that the lucky 4-5% guys might be slightly offset by individuals with access to private land. So far this hunt has been awesome considering it is an extra tag. I don’t have any... -
Persistence Hunting
I can see this resulting in new regulations stating “it is illegal to run while in pursuit of pronghorn“ 😂😂😂... There will be a whole bunch of underaged lifeguards taking shifts with whistles to blow when they identify a hunter running. With a loud shrill they will yell “walk!” -
Idaho OTC tags
The price increase does not make Idaho any more expensive than the other States. I don’t see that being an issue with nonresident hunters. The reduced tag allocation may be an issue. Best of luck to you. The Panhandle is very thick with low visibility. -
Considering Lifting for Function v. Form
Honestly, I feel like lifts on a 3/4 ton truck don’t really make any sense. They are built to tow. I feel like a height transition would be mostly cosmetic. Obviously a 2011 won’t have much warranty left to void but you do compromise your reliability. Depending on the lift you also compromise...- Nambaster

Is Nov. too late for CA black bears?
I don’t know about California but here in Idaho I walked by this rock yesterday, and there was dirt getting kicked out from underneath it. If I was really brave, I might have given the critter a little poke. I figured best not to bother it as it was preparing to den up.- Nambaster

That’s a pretty cool story. I enjoy hunting coyotes almost just as much as I enjoy hunting deer. It would be pretty cool to see the coyotes pursuing the deer either way. Definitely worth the read. Sorry to hear your friend didn’t get the deer. -

Harvest data is scaring me...
Later on in the month, I plan on hunting elk. I looked over at the harvest statistics for the unit and it sits at 4.6%. Since this is Idaho, I have the option of hunting units with higher harvest ratios. Would a 4.6% harvest ratio bother you? My friend drew a hard to draw tag in Utah this... -
