    What to do with 6mmRem??

the 6mm barrel markings should indicate 1:9.5 twist, they rebranded the 244 Rem when the varmint bullet twist would not stabilize the 100 gr bullets. I shot the barrel out of a 700 heavy barrel with 2500 rounds of VERY hot 65 grain bullets pushing max loads at 3700 fps. Throat erosion was as bad...

    Getting into suppressors

Same experience, the Yankee Hill can that is my all around works equally well on 30 cal down to 20, it is titanium and is the lightest one I own. The Black Rain can that is exclusive to .556 is heavier and seems to have same level of sound suppression. The smallest POI shift is on a stiff barrel...

Africa, best bang for your buck if "horns" are your goal ?

Glad to see HappyMyles back, he is definately a person to ask about variety as he has covered way more of the world hunting than I have so far. I have done most of Africa over 7 trips and several to New Zealand a few more to Canada and Alaska, Argintina. Really hard to compare...

    Sigh-ting in issues

If you are close to SW Colorado i have plenty of 30-06 brass / bullets /powder if you need some help there. I have messed with Ruger 77 for a friend and have a scout rifle in 308. not a big fan of the bedding setup they use unless it is glass bedded.

    Lever action restorations

leave it alone, restoration takes away all the history, when you are sitting quietly you can speculate on when what nick or scratch happened and who may have carried it. For standard 94's there are plenty of replacement barrels that would match period. Besides when it is pretty and impersonal...

    When to start burning points?

Love the chart matrix, I think there is a big difference between resident and non resident accumulating points to determining when/where you want to hunt. For those planning an occasional western trip having enough points banked to have several season choices has value. For residents in CO as we...

Messing with Nosler Accubond 140 gr 7mm in 280 AI

I am using an old lot of H4831sc that I had several pounds of and wanted to try RL22 which looked like the best velocity powder but had only 1/2 lb on the shelf, probably can push it a little and pick up another 100fps as no pressure signs at the load I used. what powder are you using with the...

Messing with Nosler Accubond 140 gr 7mm in 280 AI

Setting up a 280 Ackley this weekend and had a choice between 150gr Sirroco and 140 gr Accubond, The Sirroco 150 shoot into 3/4 inch but the 140 Accubond with a max load of H4831sc is putting 3 shots into a ragged hole, (crono shows 3050fps). Either are accurate enough, but I am thinking the 140...

Military Grade Ammo in a Modern Rifle

That stuff is usually loaded with 172 grain hollow point match, sometimes Sierra, sometimes another manufacturer who had the low bid, often lake city manufactured, usually around 2700 fps, and was very accurate in my service rifles.

Colorado 76 first rifle here I come

Hunting it early rifle, will be doing some scouting by plane in September and can certainly give some insight after that, we have a few ideas, but access to some of the bowls in the wilderness area. I would avoid any area that has easy access by quads.

    One 1 Ton Diesel Truck

I have had Dodge, GMC and now driving a Ford and the favorite would have to be the old 1998 Dodge with the 12 valve Cummins that never let me down. Stick shift as the Dodge automatics were a problem for towing durability. My current Ford crew cab long bed can be a bit of a beast to turn on...

    New old rifle 22 Hornet

Given it is a tapered case that headspace on the rim it can be overworked with full length resizing. I never had any problem with the K Hornet even though it also headspaces on the rim. I have only owned single shots in various flavor hornets and 1 pre 64 model 70, as I recall the extractor...

    New old rifle 22 Hornet

Mine was a pre 64 model 70 that I bought for $100 in 1966 upstate NY and shot a bunch of 'chucks with that all through college.Had a K hornet in a low wall that went as well while paying off college loans, wish I had them back for the memories alone!

    New old rifle 22 Hornet

outstanding! now I have to go to the safe again! One of the rifles I sold a few years back and still have a few regrets even though it sold for $1200 with a barrell that was totally shot out with minimal rifling left.

    New old rifle 22 Hornet

Just finishing touches on a Low wall in 22 Hornet, or as barrel is marked 22WCF.. It finally has a proper 10X Lyman Target spot (still crystal clear!) period scope in time for prairie dogs, a heavy octagonal Wiseman barrel, low wall action resurrected from a wreck that was originally a 25-20...
