I'm glad your 338 doesn't have a BOSS on it. The harmonics of the barrel change with weather and the amount of fouling it has. A Once a Year Hunter might get by just fine, but long gone Riflemen such as ourselves...we atr gonna shoot that thing, ha. When I got out of the Army on '73, only rifles... -

In 7mm, I have shot both the 160 SBT and 175 SBT, in Speer the 160 Hot Cor. I had a load in a 280 Ackley my friend used to kill a cow elk. Its a tough bullet.- RevJim

How long did it take for your first elk?
Bowhunted elk, 1979. Arrow deflected on unseen branch on a cow. (26yrs old) Next year bowhunt, no shots on spike & cow at 90yds. FF to moved to Utah 1990. All rifle hunts. Hunted Spike Only 92. Saw only cows. 1993 killed first cow on a CCW cow hunt. (40yrs old) 1997 killed 2nd cow, same place... -

That' what I thought would happen out of that 300WM MtE! But they acted like Bonded on those four deer I shot. Farthest one was 50yds, we were shooting them off of feeders. I would Don, this back around '97, but then and since I have seen the Sierra, Speer and NBTs Boattail's slip the core when pushed too fast. Back in the '70's you could buy 30-06 Red Box Federal loaded with their Sierra 165 SBT. It "might" have been going 2700, it was mild, but very accurate...- RevJim

Camping Outside Designated Sites in Wilderness Area [RESOLVED]
Whether they "allow" you to camp IN a designated or OUT, there is benefit in talking with the Game Warden. He can give you "up to date " info on "bear activity", "flood warning", etc.- RevJim

I bet they will work swell in your new 7 Mag bud! May I suggest, you find a store that has many boxes of them with the same Lot#. Try a box and if they do well, go back and buy at least five boxes, more if you can afford them! :) -

My Son in Law killed a nice 5x4 elk around 350yds (pass through) with that HSM ammo with the 168 Berger. Neither of us had ever shot the Bergers in anything, and he had bought this Tikka Lite 7mm RM from a fellow hunter as they go down into a hellhole of a canyon for elk.( I don't do that! ha)... -

I've used alot of Timneys, Shilen, one Jewell, several Kepplinger Single Set Trigger, Rifle Basix, Traister, and so on. I will say this...when I tried Trigger Tech, my "Rifleman Life" changed! ha No creep, can get filles with crud and still work fine! Plus, you can adjust it through the trigger...
