Iron site graduations on rear ramp

Do you know where it hits now? If so, move sight up 4 marks, shoot at 50yds. If too high, drip down 2 Marks, shoot. Then finesse one mark up or down to hit tip top of bead on the target. Have a ball Pard.

Favorite 100% copper bullets for 300 Win Mag handloads?

Ramshot Magnum is "pretty much like" H1000 and some others. It seems to be easier to find than H1000

Favorite 100% copper bullets for 300 Win Mag handloads?

I went to RS Magnum powder under the 175 LRX for about 3180 in the last 24" 300WM I had. Topped out at 87gr. Start out at 85gr or so.

New 30-06. Thinking about trying copper.

It was not "finished reamed", i.e., short chambered. It was a "Friday Afternoon" Rifle! ha We all have either seen or heard of one, pretty common nowadays, unfortunately.

New 30-06. Thinking about trying copper.

Since it shot thar good, just run a dry patch through the bore before you shoot your ammo, for zero. Then don't clean it again until the groups open up. ha

New 30-06. Thinking about trying copper.

Set your bore up, as mentioned, for the 150 TTSX. Workup your best load that groups under 1.5"@ 100. Then, clean your bore again, etc, and using the same cases/primer/powder work up your best load (again, under 1.5") with the Hornady 150 Interlock (FB) This is your "practice" load, but also...

Any Long Range 6mm Deer Hunters? What's your favorite 6mm for that?

I have seemed to be inextricably involved with the 6mm and the .270 Winchester. I have used/shot/hunted with many 6mms, from the necked up .222 Mag case to the necked down .284 cased. "My" favorite is the .240 and the 6mm Remington. I never had a 240 Gibbs ( or similar) but I am finding myself...

Favorite 100% copper bullets for 300 Win Mag handloads?

25 yrs ago I used the Barnes 180 XBT in the 300 WM. Over R22 and H4831. Went a long spell with 30-06(H4350) and 300 WSM (Hunter and R16) used Barnes 168 TTSX with both. My last cow elk I used the 300WM and Barnes 175 LRX over R23. I liked the 175 LRX better than the older 180 XBT. Hard to go...

Any .358 Norma Magnum owners out there?

The 300 WM necked up to .35 is very intriguing! In having a 358 NM I was giddy with the "knowledge" I would be the only elk hunter on the mountain with one! ha I was going to hunt mainly with the 180 TTSX. It should have put the hurt on any elk from any angle! Have a ball pard!

    Dark Timber Still Hunting

West-that particular area is full of knife-ridges, the tops all run together and the elk run the tops. Only access is to hump up those high ridges, usually in the rain/snow/mix. By the time I got to the tops, the clouds were low or fog set in, ha. Bummer.

One last hunt for my Godfather. Help requested

My best friend down in Texas had Radiation Treatments for his prostate cancer. This was last year, and he sailed right through it. He is still doing fine. So maybe it turn out to be something that a non invasive treatment will fix? Let's pray that way. :)

Opions on 300 win mag. Ruger go wild

I have, at different times, owned 2 B-14 Hunters in 300WM.(Lord knows how many 300's I have used in other Makes!) I think they are a bargain. All I ever had done to them was a. Put a Trigger Tech Special trigger in and b. "skim bed" the action. It comes pillar bedded (some type of fiber pillars...

    Dark Timber Still Hunting

I compare hunting for a Spike (only) to hunting quail! I have never connected when I hunted those areas. By the time I got up to the tops of the ridges, fog set in. I could always seem to "get into them" but could only see rumps, no heads. It is indeed challenging. I'm too old for those kinds of...

In pursuit of my first bull - nothing like I had planned.

I too hope you get an accurate diagnosis Sir! You are a tough one, I'll give you that! ha What was your caliber/bullet you used? (The Handloader in me just has to know!) :)

Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice - 2024

I'm sorry Uncle Cap, I sold the dies. I do have some new, 1x fireformed 30-06 cases (formed into 338/06, just have to shoot them!), some in new Whelan cases and a wad of new Hornady 35 Whelan brass if interested. I have Lapua and Winchester brass in the '06. I actually just necked down the...

    Restoring Accuracy, Remington 700

I hate the J-locks! Either a Tubbs or a Gre-Tan speed Lock/bolt shroud is the berries! Fast ignition is a wonderful thing! I have been so spoiled by the faster lock times of Remingtons/similarly Kimbers, that I don't own any FN Mausers anymore!
