What exactly am I skewed about ? it feels like you are doubtful about the velocities I am seeing...Fact is that these ARE the numbers I am seeing... beyond speculation of a slow tub of 4831 or a fast tub of 4350 ... i've been loading these loads for 20 years in the plain accubond 165 and 200...- flyguyskt

but I assumed most 300Rum owners have the traditional 24 inch barrel meaning we will see "similar" performance . I'm sure I could find a better powder for the HH if velocity was my main concern. BUT in no way am I saying that a 300 HH is equal to a RUM...- flyguyskt

At least on paper at safe pressures(i have never reloaded for RUM), So I am sincerely curious why one would need or want to go to the extra heavies. I couldn't do it...not even for double the money.. not even quadruple the money... I live a 5 minute drive from some of the best hiking, mnt biking, camping, hunting and fly fishing in the lower 48 so I'll stay poor and happy. I go for a hike 3-5 days a week with deer, beavers, mink, racoons...- flyguyskt

Wind Gypsy... all I can tell you is that my Garmin xero is showing me these as average numbers at max recommended loads over the last 50 rounds (25 each) of ammo down the barrel...I'm not calculating these velocities...they are ACTUAL velocities... dredging up an old thread but..if your goal is to hunt ELK, yes move to wyoming side of black hills. Like just west of Spearfish or even down near new castle wy. elk tags in SD are basically a once in a lifetime.. maybe twice... lets say you start applying at 20yrs old, the bull tag will take 15...- flyguyskt
