    Mid 50's retirees question

I'm not there yet, but I can tell you this for sure. The minute, scratch that, the second I realize I can continue my standard of living without working, I'm gone. I'm not even going to say goodbye to my co-workers.

    Be careful out there folks...

Good grief... I don't even wear gloves when I clean hogs. Been doing it that way for 35 years and there's nothing wrong with me, wrong with me, wrong with me, wrong with me...

    Favorite Recipes on a Budget?

Venison burger browned and seasoned liberally. Mix in a can of drained beans (I like black beans). Add just enough sweet baby rays to get the flavor in. Doesn’t take much. Eat in a bowl over minute rice.

This is why we can't have nice things

I can’t even imagine the BS you (Randy) and your team have to put up with and weed through. I do hope this forum sticks around though. Haven’t been here long but I sure like it overall and have learned a tremendous amount. I’m a Texas guy who has spent the majority of his life in a box blind on...

    Your backcountry training regimen

I live in Texas at water level so training for altitude is still a question mark for me. My main way of preparing is 30 lbs in my day pack and fast packing on a hike/bike trail close to our house. My typical hike is 5-8 miles at about a 14:20 pace, 3 times a week. I also intersperse mountain...

New Mexico 16B - Foot Friendly?

We did not have luck. Extremely dry conditions last year and essentially zero water to be found. It was a great trip, beautiful country, and it certainly looked promising but after hunting our tails off, we came up empty handed. And I’d go back in a heartbeat. There‘s more to this of course...

Weired things that happened in the field

I hunt primarily in Texas. One year I built a semi natural ground blind with a circular entrance so you’d still be covered 360 degrees. Dome type set up. During one of my hunts a group of cows were working through. One huge female made her way to my blind and was overly curious. Eventually she...

    Thoughts on baiting

Sounds like you have the perfect set up. Specifically the part of having land to yourself. My lease is just west of Junction. Good luck this season.
