Stolen Rifle Recovered 15 years later

That’s pretty cool getting the rifle back. I would think the only way to fix that gouge is with some wood filler or sawdust mixed with glue to make a filler. If you go this route I would fill it using a couple thin layers also. I agree on switching the bases and rings to something more stout also.

In my experience when traveling from sea level to high elevation my zero at 100 yards doesn’t change much if at all. At extended range is where you will see a difference.

    NM Late Season Muley Hunt

That is an awesome buck. Congrats on the success. His frame is deceiving for sure. How long are those G4s?

    Off-season project - 7mm Rem Mag

Always foul more? I’m curious how you know this? Normally for me I “break” in a barrel with at least 100-200 rounds before it settles. With factory ammo and your factory rifle anything 1MOA I’d call acceptable.

    Off-season project - 7mm Rem Mag

For me they don’t allow a good cheek weld at all leading to a non natural shooting position. Also if using weight in them they are very hard on scopes and stocks. Can crack a stock.

    Off-season project - 7mm Rem Mag

That looks like a decent start. I wouldn’t use a lead sled ever. Get yourself some good front and rear bags or a bipod and rear bag.

    Off-season project - 7mm Rem Mag

People are always amazed when you tell them it takes me twice as long to prep for bedding than to actually bed it and clean it up.

    .243 Winchester

243 is a great choice. There are plenty of great bullets to choose from in today’s market also. I use the 88gr hammer hunters in mine and they work awesome on game.

    Christmas meals

Cooked a 14lb ham today as we had the grandkids and family over today. Tomorrow off to mom's for Chinese food and lots of cocktails with all my family. Christmas Day probably cook a tritip and all the fixings as well. Merry Christmas!

Variation in initial/max weights for reloading manuals

The CX is an all copper mono bullet. It will require the load to be less powder vs a bullet of the same weight in lead. Also most people start at about .050 from the lands.

    Bolt Face Etching

That sounds ridiculous to me. That bolt should not have left the factory in that condition but seems typical of CA.
