I am selling a rifle for a buddy.
Remington 700 .308Win Like new Condition
26” Varmint barrel
Magpul hunter 700 stock with magwell 5 rd pmag.
DNZ game reaper 1 piece scope mount. Less than 20 rounds though it. Shot under 1” with factory 168gr ammo.
No scope included. Can email or text more...
That’s pretty cool getting the rifle back. I would think the only way to fix that gouge is with some wood filler or sawdust mixed with glue to make a filler. If you go this route I would fill it using a couple thin layers also.
I agree on switching the bases and rings to something more stout also.
In my experience when traveling from sea level to high elevation my zero at 100 yards doesn’t change much if at all. At extended range is where you will see a difference.
Always foul more? I’m curious how you know this?
Normally for me I “break” in a barrel with at least 100-200 rounds before it settles. With factory ammo and your factory rifle anything 1MOA I’d call acceptable.
For me they don’t allow a good cheek weld at all leading to a non natural shooting position. Also if using weight in them they are very hard on scopes and stocks. Can crack a stock.
243 is a great choice. There are plenty of great bullets to choose from in today’s market also.
I use the 88gr hammer hunters in mine and they work awesome on game.
Cooked a 14lb ham today as we had the grandkids and family over today. Tomorrow off to mom's for Chinese food and lots of cocktails with all my family. Christmas Day probably cook a tritip and all the fixings as well.
Merry Christmas!
The CX is an all copper mono bullet. It will require the load to be less powder vs a bullet of the same weight in lead. Also most people start at about .050 from the lands.
