    Crooked Horn Antelope

Maybe in some areas of Wyoming that may be true, but in the Sheridan, Buffalo, Kaycee area most of the antelope coming through game check stations are 2 1/2 years old and older, with many over 4 1/2 years of age. ClearCreek

    Crooked Horn Antelope

BuzzH: Thanks for the link. I thought that document looked extremely familiar. I wrote it and placed it in the Sheridan Region WGFD Monthly Newsletter in October or November of 2017. I did not realize it had been placed on Facebook. ClearCreek

Buzz - where on the G&F website did you find this? I have a special reason for asking. ClearCreek

    Crooked Horn Antelope

I could tell you the age of that antelope before you could get out your knife to pull a tooth. Just pull down his lower lip and you can (well, at least I can) easily age to 4 1/2 years old. And, that antelope would be the same age if he was very rotund or very skinny. ClearCreek

    Crooked Horn Antelope

You could go ahead and shoot that antelope as he 2.5 and maybe 3.5 years old. ClearCreek

    Wyoming draw results 2020

White-tailed deer X Mule deer hybrids are much less common than most think. You really can't tell if a deer in a hybrid just by looking at the antlers. You have to look at the metatarsal and preorbital glands. This can explain it...

    Moose Herd in Big Horns

Moose in Hunt Area 1 are much, much more visible this time of the year (late May to later in June) than they are in September and October. HA 1 is a good place to hunt moose (especially during archery season), but they probably won't be standing around during hunting season like they are now...

    Deer special archery wy ?

In Wyoming: There are no Type 9 (archery only) deer licenses. (Type 9 licenses are only available for elk licenses.) Take a look here: https://wgfd.wyo.gov/WGFD/media/content/April_REGULATIONS_CH6.pdf In the pdf from above is this info: Section 3. Special Archery Seasons. (a) There shall...

Washington Pronghorn / Can they jump a fence?

They don't necessarily need to be running to jump a fence. I saw a buck antelope, from a standing position, nearly clear an 8 foot high solid "fence". He got his front legs and enough of his torso over to be able to tip his body over and fall down the other side of the "fence". While they...

If you were to rank states by ease of website to put in for hunts.

buffybr: I guess I am biased, as I know a couple lion/bear biologists that are extremely knowledgeable. I think what happens is biologists (wildlife and fisheries) make statements that fit 90-95% of the situations but people tend to dwell on the situations that make up the other 5-10%...

    280 Rem thoughts

A "reputable gun smith" in the late 1980's did not know about a 280 Remington?? Then there was the gun store owner, at about that same time, that told me he had never heard of a 338 Winchester Magnum. I guess those types are out there. ClearCreek

When are Wyoming antelope quotas set?

The final quotas that will be passed by the Commission at their April meeting most likely won't change a lot from what is now posted on the WGFD website. The only things that would cause a change in quotas would be a severe spring blizzard that would occur in the next three weeks that would...
