I've seen a bunch of "Photoshopped" World's Record type antelope over the years. I haven't seen one in awhile, though.
Does anyone have any of those photos saved on their computer? I'd like to dream a little bit as we gear up for this season.
I remember Kurt had a bunch of giants that he's...
I do think that we three have a pretty good team formed for that silly competition! Now if only I had a few tags.
Cool website! This is definitely the place to be for pronghorn junkies.
When I watch and film and photograph these giant bucks for several years I become emotionally attached. But in a previous life where I was a professional poker player I learned how to leave my emotion at the door when it's time.
You're correct that I am versed in doing this sort of thing on a...
Here's what I have for him:
L 13
P 5 1/8
B 6 7/8
F 7 4/8
S 4 7/8
T 2 6/8
80 2/8
Originally when I saw this buck I was thinking that he might get 3 mass circumference measurements under his prongs because of how high the prongs are compared to how much horn he has above the prong. So, for...
My Dad and I were talking about how our ranch hunts in NM work and were thinking about how to figure out which bucks are the ones with potential to grow larger horns in future years and which bucks were already at their max horn growth.
I have no idea how to know which is which. Are there any...
I'll just assume all scores are based on the bucks longer horn (since the shorter one is broken a little bit).
And just so everyone knows - I have no idea what the buck really scores. This is just for fun.
You know what's weird is that that's the only sheep fence like that around that area. The antelope can leave the pasture, just can't go that way out. Not sure why the rancher left that fence up. Probably used to run sheep on the ranch or something.
Hypothetical:
If you found what you believed to be a New World's Record (of any species) and had great photos of it, but didn't have a tag for it, what would you do?
Would you post the photos on an internet forum for all to see?
Would you try to sell it to a Governor's tag hunter or other...
Nobody will ever know for sure what he scores, but here's my guess.
L 16 4/8
P 6 2/8
B 6 3/8
F 6 5/8
S 4 4/8
T 2 7/8
86 2/8
When I crunched the numbers in my "proprietary antelope handicapping database" I got a wide range of numbers - all the way from 82 3/8 to 91 2/8. It's kind of odd...

We videoed this buck while driving through town in Prescott Valley. He's in a "No Hunting" area. He was so close that we got some pretty good video, so I thought I'd share. He's also an interesting buck to practice field judging.
I think there should be a category for largest single horns. That way all these freaks that Randy wants to shoot would have a happy home in the record books. ;)
The World Record for the single largest horn ever would have to go to Todd Rice's buck from Arizona back in 1987.
The left horn...
I did have a tripod. That's what happens when the camera is at over 200X equivalent and it's why the video is so blurry - heat distortion big time at that distance.
It's funny how some of these biggest bucks ever always seem to have the "sasquatch" footage feel to them.
That buck didn't get...
When we scouted Bozarth two years ago we drove all the roads and there were no gates or signs or locks. Which area did we miss that's walk-in? (probably the area with the big bucks, because we didn't find them.)
