Referring to it being a good moisture year?
My buddy tells me this is the year to kill a really big one, as our area has had great moisture and lots of food for elk this spring and summer. Which really helps keep the anticipation down, lol.........
For my buddy and I to fill 3rd season bull tags in CO.
Last time I went 3rd season, in 2021, he killed a 300" 6 point and I killed a 275" 6x7. It's a glassing game, and I have a BTX 115 rented for this trip. I can't wait!
I'm glad you've had good experiences. What I saw wasn't confidence inspiring. I paid $750 for a used NF SHV and it has been absolutely rock solid.
Even if they overnight a scope to you, you are basically losing 2 days of your hunt, by the time you get a new one. And how often are you going to...
I've used non TSA locks, and it would bother me to be told to use them.
It would be nice if practices were uniform with the TSA. On one of my trips I checked my rifle, waited 30-40 min outside of security, and then since I wasn't called about opening the case went through security. I was at...
I've been on forums since 2014 and seen this happen a time or two.
I think a person needs to pace themselves a bit when it comes to forums. It seems like there's a tendency sometimes for people to be really enthused about them, post a lot, and then it sort of becomes a beast that has to be...
I'd have to disagree. Having had a Viper and a Razor HD LH, and having had zero retention issues, they are not something I could recommend.
The warranty is worthless if you find out you have issues on day 3 of a 7 day elk hunt.
We currently have a set of these on our work truck. I haven't really tested them too much. We are about 15,000 mi in. They make a little noise but that's probably to be expected.
Interesting thread!
I bought an 04 4runner about a month ago for a hunting/camping rig. I'd say I have about 5-10,000 mi before I'm going to be doing this search.
It currently has Hercules Terra Trac A/T E rated. I've gotten a lot of mixed feedback on whether to go E rated or not with the...
This part is interesting to me as well.
While it's obvious that people definitely feel disenfranchised, part of me just thinks people like to feel sorry for themselves. I work in the trades, and the amount of opportunity for people right now in this line of work is mind boggling. We live in...
I do the sales and estimating for our business so handshakes are a frequent thing. There is certainly a middle ground. I detest a limp handshake as much as anyone, but sometimes, especially with the elderly, it certainly feels like a little moderation is in order.
I can't imagine turning in a...
Your riflescope is essential to your success. It absolutely has to work or you will pull your hair out.
The only sub $500 riflescope I would consider is the SWFA 6x42.
After making fun of my brother being a Toyota fan boy for the last 5 years, I bought an 04 4runner about 3 weeks ago. Hopefully it works this way with mine!
-Ditch the sled.
-Recoil is an issue for a lot of people, even at 270 levels.
-The best thing I've done for my shooting is buying a 223 bolt gun. It's cheap to shoot and very low recoil. I shoot a few hundred round a year through it and it has been extremely helpful.
-Scopes are not as...
I googled his name and read a couple articles on this. It seems to be well established.
Quite the double life! Makes you wonder what was really going on in his head.
