Family Trip to Alaska - Let’s Talk

I have too agree with all the above that your itinerary is very ambitious. I would suggest limiting your travel to Denali and the Kenai peninsula. The reason I say that is due to the excessive amount of time you would be spending on the road and how little time you would actually be able to...

New 30-06. Thinking about trying copper.

Another vote for the Barnes 150 TTSX. My wife, son, and father in-law all took mule deer last season and I was very impressed with the performance. All 3 died within view of the point of impact. 50' or less. Excellent expansion and very good accuracy. It was our first experience with all...

UNIT 9 AZ LATE RIFLE HUNT

Some general tips for unit 9. When e-scouting, look for roads that are white or yellow white. These are gravelled roads and will give you the best access, especially if there is any moisture. The red brown roads are natural dirt and will get slick and rutted when wet. There will be lots of...

Grand Canyon & Sedona Family Trip

https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/coconino/learning/nature-science/?cid=stelprdb5275785&width=full Lava river cave is between Sedano and the Grand Canyon. Bring headlamps and jackets. Should be a blast for kids. Take the time to take in the Grand Canyon and drive out to all the points...

    Unexpected Arizona Early 12AW hunt.

Some closing thoughts and a photo of the almost finished euro mounts. This was the first time using all copper bullets for this trip, .30-06 150g Barnes TTS-X. I'm sold. Incredible performance on all three shots. Every deer was visible from the point of impact. Snap caps are a great...

    Unexpected Arizona Early 12AW hunt.

Well this brings this hunt to a close. I did not fill my tag, but have no regrets. This hunt was everything I hoped for. My wife, son, and father in-law tagged out and that was all I truly wanted. It has been an incredible adventure with some stumbling blocks early, but it all worked out...

    Unexpected Arizona Early 12AW hunt.

We've had a good cold spell, but it's warming back up. The bigger bucks are still at the higher elevations and We've been near aspen stands for all of the bigger bucks. Best of luck! I can honestly say this has been a heck of a hunt for me and my family.

    Unexpected Arizona Early 12AW hunt.

The father in-law got his first deer! Actually his first big game animal ever. It's a forty, but he's in his late 60s and a little mobility impared and that was the one that gave him the broad side shot. All of the hours at the range, trigger exercises and where you want to put the shot paid...

Up near the Aspen stands are where we've seen the most, but honestly they seem spread out all over.

Woohooo! My wife made a perfect shot and got her first mule deer. I am so stoked and proud of her. It's a gorgeous deer. Wasn't 20 feet from the shot.

Open day my son managed to get a shot on a three by two. Biggest deer yet for my son. He was very happy with it.

    Unexpected Arizona Early 12AW hunt.

Update for Sunday. The truck is fixed and we got back to hunting. Camp setup is working well especially as the cold is setting in. The teepee tent on the left is the cook tent. The gazelle is the father in laws and the Open on the right is mine with the sone and wife.

    Unexpected Arizona Early 12AW hunt.

Mafe it in and got mostly set up, but my luck is holding true. DEF system popped a fault and had to take it to Cedar city Utah to get fixed. 3 miles till it would have shut us down was all that was left when we pulled into the dealer. IHOP is probably better than my cooking though
