The use of the National Guard in direct Law enforcement is unusual, but has been done. Sometimes disastrously. Think Kent State. Unfortunately the more I read about the situation, the more it appears to be deliberate pot stirring and misdirection. I hope the Virginia voters are truly paying...- Simeod

Actually used all the time by states. Most states during natural disasters use the National Guard for anti-looting, evacuations and those types of functions. They are also used as additional security at large scale events (Olympics).- Simeod
