A half dozen or so calves have come home with my clan over the years from our late season cow hunts. Some friends the same thing. I normally agree with most things you write, but tenderness and flavor of a late season calf cannot be beat IMO.
If this is was in Wyoming it's illegal. No matter how wounded it was, you killed it. When you left the kill site without filling your tag, you broke the law.
Good news on this today. The Travel, Rec and Wildlife Committee, citing negative public comment, did not motion on this bill and it died.
The power of comment!
With splitting deer licenses, each species would be managed entirely separate. That given, a hunter could apply for both. Obviously, that would put more applicants in each pool, making already low odds type 1 tags even harder to draw and the present type 3 whitetail seeing a drastic decrease in...
@publichunter1 Congrats on your buck, that is awesome!
This kind of hunter harassment infuriates me. I know all the wardens around here and something needs said about this. I'd be glad to help.
The Wildlife Task Force, with relatively little discussion and no insight from 'on the ground' wildlife managers, voted to recommend that mule and whitetail deer be managed with a completely different set of licenses. In other words, there would be no more "deer" license. There would be mule...
You are slightly mixed up. In this case you are crossing the national park with your rifle to access NF where the bison is that you are going to shoot.
In my case a game warden watched the whole thing.
Interesting comment. Obviously, if he is actively big game hunting, that is illegal. The loaded weapon falls under the 2nd Amendment. There are no restrictions in Wyoming, NF, NP or wilderness, heck anywhere in Wyoming, less specifics like Federal Buildings, that citizens are not allowed to...
Right, it would be a good idea to call the warden because he's going to wonder why they packed their camp up into the wilderness and are hiking back down to the Forest to hunt.
I'd be interested to hear the warden's response to this idea.
Not sure where they do the official measurement, but an open cooler and a 5 gal bucket in my backyard both had almost 3 inches in them after Thursday night. Then we got over an inch in Friday's repeat.
You mean this sign @BuzzH ? The Sheriff was instrumental in it's removal. There are bad actors on both sides, this time it was the landowner.
I will admit though, that sportsman take the blame many times for plain hooligans on the prowl. When some jackasses torn down some gates and damaged a...
In the woods...
I take great pride while out in the wilds to describe to a friend (or maybe a grandson or two) a particular spot on a distant mountain. "Left of that snow patch, just below that big dark gray rock. Do you see where I mean?"
"I took a shit there once"
I've been in Casper since 1st grade and that's a long time ago. It's definitely not the same town it was 30 years ago, but I have too many ties here with family and property to think about leaving. I also like the central location in Wyoming as far as hunting goes. Two straight weeks of winter...
