Interesting how this one came about. Since I whittled away my elk tag in September, I made a commitment that this would be the year I would find myself a nice mule deer in MT. Since I've been a whitetail guy most of my life in Western Montana, I figured its time to look for a big muley. Well...
I will mirror this one.....I have the same binos and my FHF is perfect. And they have been tough to get lately, a production issue has bound them up. Hopefully you can get your hands on some soon.......
Awesome bull ! Great job Pat! (and guide buzz)lol
Buzz, it looks like that bull is pretty young with super great genetics, did you take a guess at age? Like maybe 3 or 4? Just looks by pics like a younger side bull but with a great set of bones on his head. Maybe not, just looked that way...
You are absolutely right! Typo on my part, sorry:) Yes, youth compact 783, not 723. It was funny, I had just written a check for $723 for some electrical bills, must be why I had it on my mind:)
Thanks for pointing out 1_pointer;)
And for what its worth Gerald, Braden is a tiny little dude. You hand him that rifle and and 100 rounds, he will sit and shoot till the barrel melts.
We got into the prairie dogs and I finally had to tell him to take a break and let the barrel cool down. This little gun doesn't kick bad at all!
I've been hunting these areas for a long time and I don't know that I can recall seeing a buck as wide as Bradens ever before. And we don't see many non typical stuff either so for Tate to get one like that was another treat.
Gerald, picked up a .243 Remington youth compact model 723. Loaded up 95 Grain Hornady SST bullets behind 41.5 gr IMR 4350.
I'll be honest, I've actually not seen many factory rifles shoot as good as this one. Lawnboy and I went out and shot one day and I set a target at 430 yards. Can't...
I would certainly support a point restriction........I'd like them to do that with Mule Deer too so we could actually have a deer or two hit maturity in Montana;)
I also agree 100% the EMP is in dire need of a revamp!
You don't get this stuff in video games, or Ipods, Ipads, whatever else crap there is out there.......the more of this and less of that stuff, the better off these kids are
Although I absolutely agree with you that the wolf quota is very much absurd and way to low in that area, I think the elk need a way to come back. A combination of more wolf harvest and less elk harvest is the answer. Gardiner is never going to have an economy crash just because of less elk...
