    Will Trail Cameras become Illegal?

I just read on Facebook that Arizona has banned the use of Game Cameras. The article said that they had two options; #! to ban all use of game cameras, and #2 to establish a season on the use of them. They opted for banning them. The article mentioned Nevada had also banned the use of...

Llama Hunting - Prices 2021- Ouch

I have pack stock and horses on my ranch here. As far as costs going up, I'm sure they have, as hay has skyrocketed in price this year. Funny how grass hay, or non Cow hay is hard to come by, as growers using irrigation want to grow pure alfalfa. So, my answer is that his rental prices are...

Garfield County sues High Lonesome Ranch over road access

I would think if a person wants to hunt this area, he/she could go into the area's Ranger Station/Office, and find out what their opinion is on whether the road and access is public or private. Get the name of the person that told you this too. Then, if you have GPS or Onyx mapping go hunt...

    12x14 Wall tent

Nothing for sale here, here's my two cents. I pack into the backcountry here in Colorado with my horses & mules. Last Spring, I bought a wall tent from a company in Denver. I didn't get the internal frame, because it's expensive, and mostly too much extra bulk to pack on a mule, along with...

GMU 66 Colorado, 1st Rifle Drop Camp

As for your 3 hour horse ride to the location of your drop camp, do you specifically know where the camp location is? I'm not trying to throw a bucket of ice water on your hunt, and yet I know that just because you're traveling 3 hrs. via horse, doesn't always necessarily mean you're 3 hrs...

    Colorado 76

I have never drawn a tag in 76, but live near it's Eastern border. A few years ago, there was a massive forest fire in portions of 76 that burned all Summer. In it's aftermath there may be some downed trees to negotiate, but also a lot of feed growing up now. That draws Elk as they still...

Anyone hunting SW CO Archery Elk?

It's pretty okay. The Elk are about 5-6 miles away during the Summer & Fall, but I live in their Wintering grounds so often see them right out the living room windows till the grass and weather lets them move back up in the mountains. So, I find a lot of sheds out on horseback nearby.

Looking to upgrade my trail camera

I'm going to buy a new trail camera. It seems the ones with the ability to send pics or videos to a smartphone have gotten pretty popular. Does anyone have experiences with these types of cameras? Will it work if your cellular signal isn't the best? Do they all require a paid...

Anyone hunting SW CO Archery Elk?

I'm not in S.w. Colorado. I do have a horse ranch in Southcentral Colorado, and surrounded on 3 sides by the 1.88 million acre Rio Grande National Forest if that is of interest?

Colorado GMU80/81 Elk Hunt Partner 2020

Hi, I guess I'm being nosey, or curious as to who your Outfitter is, and if you know where you're going to be hunting? I live in Unit 80, and am very familiar with some parts of this unit. I might be able to offer some insight on your hunt? It sounds like you've booked a drop...

Locking up your gear while your in the back country

Sorry to have to be telling you this, believe me I am. Here in Southern Colorado, some trailheads have posted warnings about leaving valuables in your locked vehicles. Seems that some criminals know that later in the evening, the odds that someone will arrive at a trailhead are pretty slim...

    Physical Conditioning @ Home

I'm probably the only person on this site that has this conditioning program. (?) i compete in the extreme sport of "Western Pack Burro Racing". We run with our Burros long distances, at high altitudes, over rough mountain terrain. The Fairplay race is 29 miles on the long course...

A little tip for the E scouting folks

My comment isn't done to criticize, more to try and help those that aren't as experienced in Western hunting and are E scouting from far off places. I've been hit up by a few hunters that are in the planning stages of their Western hunts. Some have sent me maps of areas they thought might of...

    CO hunting partner ?

How is your quest for a hunting partner going? I have made commitments for this Fall already, but wondered how you're doing with this? I have a 49 acre ranch surrounded by the Rio Grande National Forest on 3 sides, with my horses, mule, and burros. I'm retired from law enforcement, and just...

    Glassing and burn areas

I would say depending on the particular burn, it could be a nightmare? I've ridden horse through forest fire aftermath on trails after they were cleared. This particular burn area had been Aspen forest, and the downed trees were like giant pick up sticks. You'd be straddling endless trees...

    Used Wall Tent

Looking to buy a used wall tent in good condition. No holes, tears, or broken zippers. Must have a stove jack. Minimum size is 12' x 12'. Preferred size is 12' x 14', (12 x 20 and larger are just too big. What have you got?

    Gunnison Valley Horse Rental

As a horse & mule owner that has a ranch surrounded on 3 sides by 1.8 million acres of National Forest, I get plenty of riding in, as I'm retired. I have a horse rental story a friend told me about that could provide many sleepless nights for a horse owner. Hey, I understand your desire, and...

    Critters ATTACKING your game cameras?

I have the same issues as mentioned in the comments, but wondering how they find the camera in daytime hours when there is no glow from the LED lights? Is there a energy or electrical field they sense? As for mounting the camera high in a tree, I've done that too, but find it lessens the field...

    Critters ATTACKING your game cameras?

Just curious how many others are having game showing a big interest in your game cameras? I have a consistant history of Elk and Bear approaching my camera, and knocking it around. I mostly set my camera on video, rather than still pics. So, I have Bear and Elk frequently pushing & prodding...
