Sled, ponies, or 4 people. If not available and you have to make several trips, hang meat high in tree a couple hundred yards from carcass/gut pile. Be able to approach both with plenty of visibility.
Walmart in Cody has chains. Also, bears are still active and plentiful. You probably will get a bear on your carcass so I would make sure you have a plan to get an elk out in 1 trip.
I live in Cody. Most of the elk went back up high with all the warm weather we've had. Supposed to get snow Thursday, but I don't think it will be enough. If you you drew the 58-6 tag, it goes until Dec 21. I would try and come later.

I use the 140 Accubonds exclusively in my 6.5. It kills everything from antelope to elk. I almost always get pass throughs out to 400ish yards. My girlfirend killed a WT buck on Sunday with it and he was DRT.
