I grew up only on cross-country gear - and loved every minute of it. In my early 20's I was skiing / touring / going places in the winter that were awesome but the ski gear was lacking for longer treks and terrain. I was introduced into tele - and while I could go where ever I wanted with the...
We've got 3 days in so far. Kids are in the 'All-mountain' program - which is pretty good at LT. Looking forward to Saturday, snow should be much better with 11-26" forecast for the week.

If it's for running around the farm - BB gun would be great.
We did some of the Cabela's laser target stuff. Cheap little pistol with an activated target. Made lots of noise so it was fun. No nerf bullets to clean up. It was a losing battle for me when we lived in town - simply because...
Is chilli on top of a cinnamon roll just a MT thing? I remember having that during school lunches and at home. I should do that next time I put chilli together.
This quote from the article is very interesting. UPOM understands that a corner-cross is not a violation of any Property Right. Rather a 'settled expectation'. Whoever wrote the brief was paid too much - OR - really doesn't agree with UPOM.
We've always removed the tarsal glands first on any deer, whitetail or muley. It's quick and easy to do and the first thing I have taught my kids to do. We mainly shot mulies when I was growing up and never had an off-tasting one. We shoot more WT now, only because that is easily available here.
The big thing for the chariot is that there is a hard connection between the sled/load and the skier (like on a pulk).
If the load is pushing - it needs to push on you (and a rope doesn't fit the bill here). I've used the kiddie sleds - but only when I am on foot and can let go/get out of the...
Yes, you need to do it. It's an under-rated approach.
Packing out can have a learning curve. Toddlers don't weigh as much as what you could put in the sled - and can be tricky to control on the down-hill. You'll figure it all out though. It is way less work than not skinning in.
Awesome adventure - and a well told story. I'm sure the 'river-crossing' will be thought of for a long time to come (and it's also a great way to separate from other's so the hunt is uninterrupted).
Congrats to the hunter!!
I do either the "pull the bolt" method - or use this one: Leupold Zero Point Bore Sight
I have a few Lever actions... I do like the Zero Point, then shoot at 25 to make sure it's on paper
I was bound and determined (back when I was 13) that this was the gun for me - and I spent a ton of time shooting that gun to get the trigger down. It's a long pull and only crisp at the very end. It did teach me very good trigger control I guess - but it takes some work / training.
Great...
Browning BLR in .308 I originally put a Weaver K4 on it and used that scope for about 20 years. I paid $40 for the scope at the Billings Gun Show, as I was basically broke after buying the gun. The scope finally developed a leak and would fog occasionally - so I put a Leupold VXIII on it a...
