I do it in 3 parts as I’m 9 hrs from home to my hunting lease.
Part 1: It takes me about 10 minutes to gut a deer. Then I leave it hang.
Part 2: A half hr to skin and debone and get a deer in the cooler.
Part 3: Once home it takes me about 2.5 hrs to break down , trim , slice, grind and...
Trying like heck never to look thru a set of pures. Been happy as I can be with my old 2004 ELs. Getting harder with all these great reviews and I know they would be a good upgrade. I use 8.5x42s in the EL but I might very well go with 10s in Pures. I’m an Eastern hunter so no need for anymore mag.
I can only recommend Leica. Its the only RF I have owned. Bought in 2004/5. So long ago I cant remember. Used in hot/ cold/ wet/ dry/ dusty conditions. Bounced around in a atv saddlebag for 15 years. I remove the battery at the end of the season in March and put in a fresh battery every...
Third deer I shot with this set up. All over 180 yards. None went more than 20 yards.
Second large buck. I admit I had my doubts with the 350 but making a believer out of me pretty quickly As a good straightwall state caliber. I primarily hunt in Alabama where I use a 7mm08 or 270 win.
I love to hunt and the lifestyle of deer hunting. I’m not the least bit embarrassed to admit that come February I’m ready for hunting season to end and to start fishing in the salt. We have a long season (Nov-Feb) in Alabama with liberal limits and prep in the woods starts in October. In...
I used shotguns with slugs for many years in Ohio. I never had a specialized shotgun for the but I did have a rifled barrel with a scope for it. Same shotgun I used for dove, quail and turkeys in the south. For my annual hunt in Ohio we have moved on to straitwall Rifles. So I no longer use my...
I guess mine was a Marlin 336cs 30-30. No scope. I bought it to shoot wild hogs in Florida. I shot it for two years then bought what I consider my first real big game rifle , a ruger m77 tanger in 30-06. I still have both rifles.
Get a new rifle. 7mm08 or 6.5 CM. Theres no better excuse to get a new one than your old rig kicks too much. I loved my old Ruger red pad tanger in 30-06 but I don't miss getting kicked like a mule. My 7mm08 is a nice change.
I shoot group and chase the bullseye. Shoot another group to verify its shooting where I want it. Then I go get a beer and a sandwich while the other guys are counting clicks burning up ammo.
I like to toss on some avocado and sliced jalapeno. My chili is pretty meaty so the only thing else I usually eat with it is cornbread when Im not cutting the carbs.
My Dad had a Winchester 3030 back in the 90s. That thing shot all over the place.
We used to joke that that rifle would shoot around a corner. I thought it was him so I shot it off my bench. I cleaned it, used copper solvent on it , tried various ammo and never could get it to any better than...
