I keep meaning to add this photo. It’s a Ceiba tree I saw in Puerto Rico this spring. Age was estimated around 370 years and for scale, that big buttressed root on the right is 12-14 feet tall!
It's been a great Spring for wildflowers here! I've learned some new species and seen some beautiful examples of the classics. I'm posting some pics below. Anyone else enjoying the wildflowers recently? Post your pics.
I made it 14.5"
I'm 6'4" and my upland shotgun is 15.5" which is perfect for that kind of shooting. I keep my waterfowl shotgun a little shorter than that because I tend to be wearing bulkier clothing when duck hunting. For this rifle, I wanted it to be long enough that my sight picture was...
I left it on for 4 or 5 hours at a time, but still found it took a lot of work to get the finish off. It did work, though, so I guess no real complaints.

I've heard stories, but never experienced loon thievery until yesterday. An old friend and I carried into some little ponds to fish for Brook Trout and we did well. Twice, I hooked a trout, then saw a huge flash under water and a loon had my trout in its beak. I'd wrestle the trout away, get...
this VWvan cracked me up. Phish sticker on the back, sunflower dangling off the mirror and then the martial arts stickers on the side. I couldn’t tell who it was when I entered the hardware store…
