I killed my Wyoming moose in the middle of a pretty serious quakie downfall. We were only a mile from a road but it was a two day pack for two of us. That was 30 years ago. Now days it might be a weeks pack for me and my old friend.
Great memories!
I love the update es. I hope you keep posting your progress and I'm confident you are in for a real adventure.
I've been on lots of no sightings desert sheep scouting trips so don't get discouraged. If you look long and hard enough you will eventually find them, but this time of year is hard...
Mine's a 24" 1:8 barrel and I was also using RL 16 to get those speeds.
It also really likes the 124g HH with RL 23 and 26, but at much slower velocity. It's kinda my favorite rifle right now.
I shot some 118 HHT's out of my 6.5X284 yesterday. I got them screaming at 3400 fps and shot a .30 MOA group.
But with a little heavy bolt lift I will definitely tone it down for lots of reasons.
I don't know how I missed this post, but I too offer congratulations to you eshunt. I've been applying in NV for two decades and hope some day to draw before I die.
Some years back I helped a friend on a NV Desert Sheep unit with a military base in it and back then it required you to attend an...

A spotter is almost as essential as your rifle for your hunt but my guess is right now, you won't be seeing sheep where you will be hunting them. I'd get it sent off ASAP and maybe borrow one until you can get it back. I use a pair of 15x56 binos on a tripod for most of my sheep spotting, and...
Great start poormanslam. Awesome pictures.
Most serious wilderness hunters/fishermen have learned to deal with bears. Obviously a clean camp-food in a tree away from camp, etc. are necessary. You will also have a rifle for protection when you are hunting. I'm not too afraid of bears, but...
Being retired and having time on your hands definitely tips the scale of success in your direction. The "old" part, not so much. (I know from experience)
I hunted unit 4 almost 20 years ago and my guide pointed to a spot in unit 5 where rams wandered out of the wilderness later in the season...
