I've never been on a cancelation hunt but I have a friend who got in on a Stone Sheep hunt many years ago. He only had 3 days to get to the hunt concession and he still paid 70-80% of the original cost. I think he was only on that list, but he had also booked with another outfit for the...
Well you still have a big heart, even if there were some selfish motives.
It's amazing how much we hunters have in common, once we are around the same campfire...NR or otherwise. Obviously he wasn't trying to take advantage of you or the system, (which some "slugs" would do) but I'm sure you...
Nice report mulecreek. Tagging along with a NR confirms you have a big heart!
I love the way you guys made it into a sheep hunt and not a "ewe shoot"!
Beautiful country. I could see the Teton's on my "littlebighorn" ram hunt as well, but that was long ago.
Thanks for the post.
Well done JD!
It sounds like you got your money's worth out of that hunt.
Pretty intense to hunt on the last day of the season for a sheep!
Congratulations
My profession as a school employee had me working summer jobs to pay for hunting/vacations/etc. Through luck and draws I eventually got 3 of the 4 NA wild sheep. I needed a Stone to complete. Then a couple of amazing people stepped up to help me go on a BC Stone hunt. It cost a third of...
Incredible rams Bambi.
Your passion and success with sheep is very obvious.
Nothing on that wall is close to being marginal or immature, which says lots about your respect for sheep and how you hunt.
I'm curious if the darker cape came from a Fannin? I think that's the substitute mount?
Well...
Sheep hunts (any hunt for that matter) are only epic if you make sure to share them with friends and family.
Your's was truly epic.
Incredibly well done!
We blew through GJ early Saturday to get home with my son's BOMMER last day deer from the Basin. I'll text you a pic. I ate tag soup. I for sure want to connect and heft those horns! Congrats again.
Congratulations again Mark!
I've been deer hunting for the last 3 weeks in your neck of the woods, so I'm also late to your HT party.
What an epic adventure. The pictures along with the story really brought your experience to life for me.
My son's hunt in that unit in 2009 (before a pretty good...
Great recap Mr. Oak! Another outstanding trophy/adventure and well deserved. The pictures make it last a lifetime.
My friend came along on my Wyoming Shiras hunt years ago and I still get a kick out of reviewing the old footage.
Well done.
Congratulations on the tag sturge.
Desert sheep hunts are always amazing adventures.
My son and I will be headed out in a couple of weeks to help on some Utah desert hunts.
Best of luck.
Good on you Bambistew. I can only guess how much that annual trip means to you but Kudos for doing your part.
It's tragic Dall numbers seem to now be in rapid decline, given they are the bright spot for wild sheep populations. Hopefully that turns around and you are able to be back out doing...
Congratulations BradA,
Regardless of the circumstances, that first ram is very special.
I've been very fortunate with sheep tags and I was able to put the final ram of my SLAM on the wall, just this last week. (see attached pic)
I shot this one with a little 6.5 man bun. Sheep are not tough...
