NM elk archery vs rifle hunting?
When buying a LO tag, you would be wise to ask (1) whether it is ranch-only or unit-wide and (2) if ranch-only, whether the property consistently holds elk. Ended up with a cow tag on a piece of property roughly the size of a good city park last season and nary a legal elk to be seen. -

G5 Montec or VPA Three Blade
The BMPs make a little more sense for the G5 mechanicals. The Montecs are easy enough to sharpen that I wouldn’t worry about shooting practice heads. That said, they used to sell some practice points that were exact matches for the Montecs but not sharpened and maybe a softer steel. I liked... -

Montec CSs were good starter blades for me but they flew loudly. I would suspect the VPAs are quite a bit tougher, maybe slightly harder to sharpen (but more likely to retain their edge) and certainly much quieter. You're looking at two very different price points, though. I'd also look at... -

I assume you're talking about the FN Five-seveN handgun and not the P90 submachine gun*? I don't have a 5.7 with a red dot on it but have had good luck with a Vortex Venom 6MOA on my G19 MOS. For slightly less accuracy at long range but easier acquisition up close, I've really liked my Holosun... -

Mountain lake fishing advice
Be careful to confirm the lakes you plan on fishing permit bait-- many mountain lakes here in Colorado are fly/artificial lure only, which even prohibits artificial "bait" like Berkely PowerBait.
