Just making a joke man. You must have missed the thread where the GMC driver got his pickup stuck and the sherriff publicly called the driver an "ass clown"?
First and foremost, excellent use of the word " trepidatiously".
On a side note, what an epic adventure! Congrats on a great trip and you guys' caribou! What a dream hunt
I'm sorry my sarcastic nature got the best of me. I do not live in, nor am I familiar with this area. This was my best effort at giving you a hard time. Most folks around here tend to think of it being not kosher to ask others for a good hunting spot.
Good luck, looks like beautiful country to hunt!
FYI if you are trying to keep your spot a secret, I wouldnt post google earth shots of the area.
It takes even a mediocre sleuth only minutes to figure out where you are.
Of course you find the info useful, because then you can sit in your arm chair and "scout", without exerting any actual effort. Nobody cares to hunt the units you hunt in michigan because its, well, michigan. If you lived in the west and your unit was getting torched on the WWW I think you may...
IMO you need to gain vantage points and spend a considerable amount of time patiently glassing if you are hunting open country. Even if you are experienced at glassing, sometimes depending on lighting conditions and other factors, it can take some time to spot the first critter before your eyes...
I think your expectations of an easy hunt contributed to your lack of success. Also, maybe a stupid question but have you spent much time patiently behind glass? Sometimes if you don't know what you're looking for its not as easy to spot as it may seam.
