I'm gearing up for my first archery hunt out west (I've done several rifle hunts previously), and normally when I archery hunt locally my layering system tends to revolve around wearing an old Cabela's soft shell vest in Max4. I don't like to have a jacket on in fear of it interfering with my...
I had reconstructive shoulder surgery right after HS when I tore my rotator cuff and labrum. Keep in mind I was 18 years old, in good shape, and religious about rehab. I had surgery in middle of August and was throwing a baseball again by Christmas. (At significantly reduced strength, but it...
Yes sir, that's why I didn't say 5. I understand the difference, but I feel like it's a gray area if point creep continues on the same trajectory. Do you think I'm more worried about it than I should be? I understand that this is all dependent that application trends stay consistent as well...
I'm looking to cash in some elk points next season, but I'm already planning now for scouting and logistics purposes. There is a limited quota unit I'm really interested in that currently has a 100% draw odds with 6 points, and around 50% at less than 6. I'll have 6 points next year. If I put...
^ I say this a lot. While not good for backpack hunts, it's what lead me to consider concealed carry. That and the LEO response in Uvalde and the guy's response at the shopping mall to stop the shooter. Do I expect to be a white knight saving everyone? Absolutely not, but I'd rather at least...
Howdy everyone! I'm sure I could go to some tacticool message board for more specific information on concealed carry, but I always get good answers here and this crowd is usually more my speed. I'm looking to get into carrying a concealed handgun. I'm pretty well versed in guns, ammo and...
Same thing while out hiking for trout in June of last year. It still bothers me, but it's continually getting better. Best thing I did was really try to rest my knees as much as possible for two months straight (I know it's not always an option), and then hit rehab exercises as hard as you can...
I live north of Austin, and we got about 2" of rain, strong winds and light hail. We were lucky though. I was out helping with boarding up broken windows and removing trees yesterday in my buddy's neighborhood just south of us. There was a lot of damage. I only snapped this one picture, but it...
Way too much stuff, but it all fits under the back seat....
Construction site PPE
small tool kit from wal-mart
multitool
battery powered work lamp
flashlight
headlight
small pry bar
folding shovel
fencing pliers
assorted bottles of water and gatorade
substantial first aid kit (recently used...
I try to set deadlines for myself even if it's just as simple as I need to get this done within the next 30 minutes, by EOB or by the end of the week. It seems to help me to work against a deadline.
I grew up next door to Jesse. Great guy from a great family. His dad ropes, and I always got to take care of their horses when they were out of town. There's a reason why he seems natural on a horse.
How are they with briars and brush?
Edit: These are different than I thought. They definitely look more substantial than I imagined, but I'd still like to get your feedback.
Howdy! I have a great pair of backpack hunting/mountaineering boots, but my boots that I wear for hunting here at home in TX (nothing too crazy in central Texas) and on upland hunts in the Midwest have bit the dust. I was hoping to hold off until next year to buy a new pair when the new Meindl...
I appreciate you
I appreciate you putting my mind at ease. I've only had smaller tents with aluminum poles, and this didn't happen. My two larger tents are Academy specials with fiberglass poles. This is my first larger tent with aluminum poles.
Howdy,
I just bought a new Big Agnes tent (Tensleep Station 6), and it has aluminum poles. I used it for the first time on a two night car camping trip, and when I started breaking down the tent at the end of the trip I noticed it had a couple significant bends in the poles in the shape on the...
Hey Big Bore, if you PM me your email, phone number or both (whatever you're comfortable with) I will make sure someone reaches out to you to get you educated and see if you'd like to get plugged in. Also, I know they will have an expo table at the Lazy L&L Campgrounds at Troutfest going on this...
Haha hey buddy! Yeah, it's me. The kids are getting more manageable, so I will probably be getting more involved again this year. I'd be happy to run a coast trip again! If you search the boards you can see where I was trying to recruit folks for that trip on here haha!
I used to be pretty involved in the Austin area, but that has waned in the last few years with kids. I also didn't see eye to eye with with some of the old leadership. There is new leadership now, and I am still in touch with a few guys on the board. Are you asking if we would like to be more...
