    Welcome from another Texan.

    Silly but Serious Question

It does in Texas if you're hunting public land during a gun season open in the same unit. I was hunting in an area that had duck hunting...but the duck hunters didn't have to wear orange...soo it doesn't make sense.

    Silly but Serious Question

It does in parts of Texas where I took the picture, but you're mostly right.

    Silly but Serious Question

The orange vest doesn't shine like a face in the sun. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Silly but Serious Question

Hey guys, I'm gearing up for my first archery elk hunt, and I have a silly but real question. Do you ever paint your face or anything like that in anticipation of close stalks? I grew up duck hunting and I'm very aware of the shine my face can give off, so I often will burn a wine cork and rub...

Recommendation for Ground Blind/ Stool to pack in

Depending on what you have around you to supplement your blind I've used a piece of camo burlap like material that is zip tied to some small fiberglass electric fence posts and a foldable stool. The fence posts might not work where it's super rocky though. I've set this up with a few good trees...

Am I Making a Mistake? - Tarp Tent w/ Down Bag

I've used tyvek for my tent footprint for years. No worries about packability. It's great stuff!

Am I Making a Mistake? - Tarp Tent w/ Down Bag

Haha yeah, it's a little over 5lbs. In my younger years I was broke and went cheap on stuff and used my fitness to overcome the weight penalties. Now I'm older and have kids, so not broke but the money goes to them. The fitness...well I can still manage, but I'd rather not pay the penalty if I...

Am I Making a Mistake? - Tarp Tent w/ Down Bag

Ugh yeah, this is on my mind. I plan on having the tarp, backing tent and car camping tent in the truck to give us options, but this would definitely put us on "Plan C" if this were to happen. My Oct hunts have been in Utah, and we have been lucky enough to always dodge the big snow storms but...

Am I Making a Mistake? - Tarp Tent w/ Down Bag

I'll gain about 4lbs in weight savings. I'm working to cut my overall pack weight. Edit: a $20 tarp is pretty thrifty in my mind LOL!

Am I Making a Mistake? - Tarp Tent w/ Down Bag

Howdy everyone, I'm just looking for some feedback on a possible Sept elk hunt set up. I have experience backpack hunting in late Oct with a standard three season backpack tent, but for my upcoming Sept WY elk hunt I am looking at going with a 10'x10' tarp in a tarp tent configuration with a 0F...

    Haha I shoot a 2015 Bear Authority...you sure?

    Local Archery Shop - AITA?

Meh, I shoot uncut arrows. 31.5" draw length, but I see your point.

    Local Archery Shop - AITA?

I'm a believer in supporting local businesses within reason, and always try to buy through my local archery shop (LAS) when possible. I don't need stuff often enough to the point where they know my name or anything though. Earlier this week I call my LAS to see if they had a specific arrow in...

Is the upgrade to tool steel broadhead worth it?

@Mthuntr do you have any feedback on these? I'm currently looking into them for the fall. Thanks!

    New Bear Razorhead Broadheads

Hey everyone, I'm in the very beginning stages of researching new broadheads, and I came across the new Bear Archery Razorhead Broadheads. Does anyone have any experience with these or feedback? I'm looking at a number of other broadheads as well, but I haven't found much feedback on these...

    Vest Advice

I would agree on their earlier stuff, but the items I have bought in the last 4 years of so have seemed to hold up for me. I'll admit I'm normally only doing about 30-40 days in the field each fall/winter though. The biggest thing for me is most of their items fit me really well being 6'4"...
