Will include the set of medium Talley rings that I had - for "Savage round receive (8-40 Screws)".
Also - I noticed the mavin shield logo inlay on the parallax is missing. Reticle is the simplified hunter.
Thanks for all the feedback! If I get another chance at a calf this season I might just let her rip especially as I still hope to put a bull in the freezer later in the rifle season as well.
What's everyone's thoughts on harvesting a calf elk on an anterless tag? On the opener I was pinned back behind the main group of cows several times by two calfs and was inside 20yards of them for awhile a few times and could have gotten a shot.. so it got me thinking.
The non hunters in my...
Got in close on this guy yesterday morning. Unfortunately only had a cow tag in my pocket and didn’t quite make it happen on one of the cows in his group. But what an experience getting in close with the elk! He would have been much easier to arrow as he lagged behind the group and kept pinning...
Made it down to the Manitou Springs incline yesterday and the cpw archery course. That was a great little training outing I would recommend to anyone in the area.
We had a date picked but then it fell through in the end with our various schedules. Now I have kinda shifted gears to hiking for scouting exclusively.
Here's what I've got: https://mavenbuilt.com/products/rs-1-2-5-15x44.
used it for a season but built a new rifle and when with a lighter 10x on this build. $825 OBO with the turret top.
Okay cool! I thought maybe a good way to go about it would be to arrange an initial hike that is not too crazy - like a 10mile route - that would give the folks involved a chance to meet and see how we all do and then from there plan a more challenging route? Personally I would like them to be...
I am no turkey pro but have managed 2 for 3 on front range turkey. I like it cause it’s the one time I can hunt fairly often without driving super far and so get lots of hunt days in.
From my limited experience I have found them in ponderosa forests with open understory but fairly dense trees...
This is bizarre, I came across this old thread today and read it and then listened to the Hunt Backcountry podcast (which I listen to regularly) only to discover they were the same story!
Wondering if a few people local to the front range would be interested in arranging and planning some sort of challenging off trail hike or series of hikes. Maybe some of you are familiar with the Exo guys and their Hunt Backcountry podcast and the Death Hike (as named by them) that they do...
The CO zone I have hunted the last few years seems to hold Turkey's through most or all of the season and possibly year round as I have also found fresh sign in the fall season though I haven't killed one in the fall. Even with that I don't always hear a lot of gobbles - especially once that...
Killed my one CO OTC gobbler 20mins into the opener yesterday and just like that my 7 weeks of hunting opportunity went up in a cloud of feathers! No, actually I am stoked to have gotten mine. Last spring I struck out all together. Good luck to everyone who is still getting after it.
I am offering my Kuiu pack for sale with two bags- asking $250 for the whole thing. It was purchased in 2020, it's the PRO suspension, Tall carbon frame, it's got one hip belt pouch. I got the 3600 bag originally and then last year got the 5500. Since the 5500 is the same weight as the 3600...
I hunted elk in 65 for one season about 3 years ago. Was still figuring it out then I think. But we got into fresh sign (probably bumped a few out of thier beds but didn’t seen them because we didn’t know to go slower and look with glass more). That was up off the top of owl creek pass towards...
These are both helpful replies. Thank you for your feedback. It's about what I was thinking but wasn't sure how easy or hard tags were. I think most of all I would miss the big open views we have in the west. We lived in New Jersey only for a year or so awhile back and I recall feeling quite...
