Update
It's looking like a "go."
I've really been wrestling with whether or not I could/should do this on the grounds of being as "responsible" as possible to our finances, family, and our business. I've come to the conclusion that getting away from all of the noise for 5-7 days is exactly...
I completely agree. If I was hunting an elk with a 7mm, I probably wouldn't shoot a 139. It was just a good reminder to me that the bullet doesn't know what size bore launched. Mass and energy are what they are.
My main goal is to get maximum performance out of the 130 grains I'm launching.
Hunting Ethics are ultimately just Ethics. The outdoors presents so many opportunities to reveal your true character. It's one of the reasons I love it and want to expose my kids to it. When nobody is around and nobody will ever know, you find out who you are deep inside. So many people wave...
So, I'm leaning hard toward making a solo elk hunt in CO, 2nd rifle this year. I know that my .270 is plenty of rifle for the job, but I'm always looking for a little edge. I got to poking around on Hornady's site comparing bullet energy at 300, 400,and 500, and it appears that the 130 gr...
Colorado OTC Elk 2nd Rifle
A little background. I am an Eagle Scout, former Marine, and lifelong hunter. I'm not dumb enough to think that makes me bullet proof in the mountains, but it does make me confident enough to be there alone.
I have all the gear I need (except for a SPOT). I have...
Well written and informative Oak. As a flat lander who enjoys trekking to Colorado to hunt, I'm much more interested in the long term sustainability of the whole big game hunting opportunity than I am about non-resident's getting more tags.
In fact, if non-residents had to get fewer tags to...
2015 F250 super duty crew. 4,300 miles. I keep trucks a loooong time, so it may seem rich today, but it will still be hauling the mail in 10 years. My round trip to work is 14 miles so I barely put any wear on it.
Not trolling and not joking. I have shot a compound bow exactly once in my life and have never shot a crossbow. I'm a firearms junkie and rifle hunter, so I've largely ignored the many debates that surely have raged. Having said all of that, I'm not stupid and I clearly see that there is a...
Not looking for an argument. Honest question from a guy who doesn't bow hunt. What's so bad about crossbows? From my uneducated view point, it seems like I see a lot of wounding shots on game with compound bows that would be minimized if a more precise weapon were used. Anecdotal stories and...
They give away some pretty incredible prizes which makes me think there must be tons of members to underwrite that swag. I'm thinking i'll give it a try.
Happy Birthday Brothers!
I just returned from 12 days in Colorado with my godfather and his 2 sons. All 4 of us share the lifelong bond of the corps and a love for the mountains. We had an EPIC trip despite only filling one tag.
