.308 win bullet selection for new reloader
Barnes 150 gr. TSX and IMR 4064 is my go to load in my Tikka 308 win. No problem with proper bullet expansion on elk out to 400 yards+ if your rifle will allow you to load in the mid to upper levels of recommended powder charges.- Sawtooth

Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice - 2024
Usually I try to keep all shots under 300 yards, but my longest on elk with the load mentioned above was at just under 500 yards. Fly Rod help
When you say it is too stiff, do you mean that the rod speed is too fast to your liking? Flexes in the top 1/4 of the rod = fast flex rod. Flexes in the top 2/3 of the rod= slow flex rod. Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice - 2024
@Sheltowee My rifle shoots both bullets well, but the 185 gr. likes near maxs loads around 2800 fps. and the 210 gr. shoots best at a mid-range load going around 2500 fps. So I have gone with the 185's. I'm sure the 210's would work just fine and takes advangage of the 338 diameter bullets a bit...
