Best of luck to your son in his first year in college. As well as the transition you and your wife will have as empty nesters. Lots to be proud of as you watch your kids start "adulting" on their own. Can't think of a better way than to spend quality time with your son before you send him off to...
So sorry for your loss. May the next few weeks be filled with fond memories of great days of great points. He had some amazing country to roam and call home.
IDFG sent me an incorrect Successful Tag postcard as well today. Mine was for 1029 Deer. A short range tag in limited public land area that I have never applied for. 🤦♂️
Barnes 150 gr. TSX and IMR 4064 is my go to load in my Tikka 308 win. No problem with proper bullet expansion on elk out to 400 yards+ if your rifle will allow you to load in the mid to upper levels of recommended powder charges.
Richard,
Sorry to hear of her passing. Every time that I look at the roe buck euros displayed on my desk, I think of that last day of hunting. How the rut was just getting started and how that buck was chasing his doe to near exhaustion around the fields. She had a beautiful farm and her farm...
If the damselfly are active, a damselfly nymph stripped slow or and adult pattern on the surface can draw some vicious strikes. Halloween leach is also a favorite.
Usually I try to keep all shots under 300 yards, but my longest on elk with the load mentioned above was at just under 500 yards. Absolute still morning with rock solid rest allowed for the longer shot. The bull took four steps, stood for five or six seconds and just dropped. Barnes 150 clipped...
Benelli Ultra light or Montefeltro for semi auto. If the gun fits you right you can greatly improve your hit rate. So regardless of what you choose, get one that fits.
When you say it is too stiff, do you mean that the rod speed is too fast to your liking? Flexes in the top 1/4 of the rod = fast flex rod. Flexes in the top 2/3 of the rod= slow flex rod. If you have a fast flex 4 wt. and would like a medium fast rod, you can go up a weight in fly line and it...
@Sheltowee My rifle shoots both bullets well, but the 185 gr. likes near maxs loads around 2800 fps. and the 210 gr. shoots best at a mid-range load going around 2500 fps. So I have gone with the 185's. I'm sure the 210's would work just fine and takes advangage of the 338 diameter bullets a bit...
