    Loan for hunting

The only loan I've ever had was a mortgage, and I paid that off early at age 50, then saved up for my Montana hunts on alternate years, 4 visits in total, hunting and fishing is something I would never consider putting myself in debt for. Or a car for that matter, I can only speak for myself...

Few hours woodcock hunting in the UK

The woodcock is such a challenging bird to hunt, you can almost step on them before they fly, then its a case of 'shoot em before they shit' because as soon as they do they strart to 'chink', then its a guessing game! Once they are away fly usually fly some distance, we found most hunkered down...

    Hunting with a suppressed rifle?

Well, I have to admit a change, I sold the Blaser Stutzen, bought a Steyr and put on a sound moderator (suppressor) on it, hated doing it as it ruins the balance, but, it does enable me to shoot more than one deer as they often don't know where the shot comes from and they get confused. A...

    Asking permission

Letters are a waste of paper. Just loiter around their ranch when they are working, they will find you, and not vice-versa, that is better way to make the initial contact, works for me, has to, we don't have any public land, politeness goes a long way.

    Scarey night

I can't believe this goes on in your country, they must be aware you guys are armed! In my country, if we went to get a firearm to protect our property its us that would get sent to jail, not the burglar! Cheers Richard

    World Cup competition begins today

I am so torn, politics plays apart, Argentina invaded the Falklands (yes I have along memory and I was 21 at the time) but France (spine less little sh1tes) let boat loads of Albanians invade the UK via the channel whilst we pay them £60 million not to, let me think a bit (sorry drunk way too...

    Is it winter?

We are just coming out of an Arctic blast. lasted 10 days, its a bit of a shock to us at -9c and we have made a dent in our wood store, plus the deer would hear me coming a mile off. Record 40c temps in summer. This week, back to 13c and heavy rain. But at least it has triggered the salmon into...

Flying with firearm (any airlines to avoid)?

Answering the original question, my advice, never, ever choose British Airways to fly with a firearm. They will rip you off and cause you hassle, as will staff at Heathrow Airport
