I have one without a hood and I debate replacing it each year with one that has a hood. The only times I have appreciated it not having a hood is when I’ve had to layer over it with a rain coat and used the rain coat’s hood. My next one will have a hood though
When people are talking about coolers it is usually in quarts (not cubic inches). Here’s the cheatin’ way of doing the conversion because I’m lazy. A 7 cu ft freezer is comparable to a 200 quart cooler (or two 100 quart coolers). I hope that helps

My thought would be to start with a do-it-all .50 and then if you are still wanting a .45 later, get it after you have figured out your preferences/needs. But if you want a .45, I doubt you’d regret getting one as long as you don’t decide to get a CO tag sooner.
