A number of baits can be really effective on the large trout that have seen every fly and lure. My weirdest was a big rainbow on chicken liver while catfishing.
Thanks for sharing that article, I knew they were doing poorly but I didn’t realize how close they were to that threshold. I’ll gladly pass the pintail I see this fall, but that article paints a pretty gloomy picture of the future for pintail…
I still haven’t casted a vote because I’m bouncing between a caliber I would personally prefer, and the ones that have the most demand.
One thing I wonder is if you should think about it from a supply side also. Nobody would question that the 6.5s are in high demand, but when I walk into...
I’ve found that pike often have distinct enough patterns that you can ID them from their spots. I learned one sleepless night that I’ve caught multiple pike at least twice.

The bills from the side angle seem more like juvie snows than Ross’s geese because of the size and curved border of the bill but it’s hard to tell (pics both pulled from Google)
The thing I am confused about - he describes hearing the gunshots and then the “crack” of the bullets whizzing by his head. In most cases that should be backwards because that bullet should be going way faster than sound. So was she shooting high into the air and the bullets were falling back...
