I’m not sure if gohunt has a trial membership available or not, but it would definitely help you. There are lots of online resources available for trying to figure things out. In general, people aren’t going to tell u where to apply and not apply. It’s fun figuring that out on ur own anyway.
Is it common that if you get a B & C animal you enter it into the book? I’m not opposed to it, but where I grew up in Iowa nobody ever enters their deer. I wasn’t sure if that was normal or an anomaly.
I am heading out to CO next week for a muzzleloader elk hunt. I’m just curious what other people do. Do you leave your gun loaded the entire time, or reload it every couple of days due to moisture concerns?
What are the current fees? I cannot find any good details on hunt dates, fees, etc. I know I have found these details in years past. If I remember right the Non trophy bison is like $3300.
It appears that it is acting like a true preference draw though, so that is why I am assuming that. no nonresident under 5 points drew.
I haven’t read them recently. Id view it as more of a meat harvest/adventure than a hunt.
Can someone clarify how this draw works?
I’m assuming they are including preference point only applicants in the “number of applicants” column, but that isn’t very clear on the website.
I feel for people that are strapped with debt based on decisions made when your 19-21 years old. I just don’t understand why we aren’t addressing the root of the problem. Im also not excited about paying for this in the form of inflation and taxes. I don’t agree with 90% of government...
yeah this whole process sucks. Hopefully they make some process improvements next year if/when they overhaul their system. I still don’t understand why every state doesn’t just copy Nevada's system. Every part of their draw system and reissue process is seamless.
basically last year there were several folks using computer programs to watch the site and get tags in their cart. I think the new rules will help a lot.
Yeah I know. A few factors are at play. I think my application strategy was poor, mostly just planned to build points. Also if I would’ve found out about 6 weeks ago I’d be all in. I have 3 young kids and already have other hunts planned, so another week long hunt on the books will not be...
Thanks for the input guys. Looks like tags have been cut from 320 to 47 total tags for this hunt. That actually makes it more appealing to me. We’ll see what happens. Need to see if my wife approves I guess.
Was not expecting this at all. Already have my hunting pretty well planned for the Fall. Low odds of drawing, but I’m not entirely sure I want the tag especially with the drought. Anyone have opinions on this tag or area? What would you do? I live in KC so it’s no small trip.
Just curious, how could you tell? I did read that they would drop them as close to 11 as possible but there is a 2 hour window where they said the tags would be dropped.
