Hunting big mule deer, by Robby Denning, after reading this book I was pretty pumped for season. Full of tips tactics and motivation to get out there and get it done.
Selling my Garmin 64st, I was thinking $200 with the New Mexico OnxMap chip included OBO. Nothing wrong with it, I just use the APP more than anything.
I agree 100%! Haha I'm trying to just pass the time and look for inconsistencies. My thought process here though is looking at last year's, the tags you drew stay on top while your unsuccessful stay on bottom.
I think I found a backdoor with NM results. This only works if you applied for multiple species though. Everytime I refresh my page my order of "pending" tags changes. Now it always has the same two on the bottom but the top choices change. I've tried it on 3 different accounts (wife, son, me)...
NMGF does everything on Wednesdays, so I doubt it'll be any other date. But then again this is the commissioners last year so maybe she'll do something crazy.. everyone draws first choice!!
Wow mcelweed that's a very good looking bull!! Have you tried the meat yet? I think we're going to run out soon because that stuff is just too good!! Mind me asking who your taxidermist is?
Just saw this post, but ill be hunting out there next week as well. I drew the same tag as you. I'll be the idiot carrying around a bow with a backup rifle haha.
Just an idea but what about unit 591? 99.5% public land, OTC, and 100% on Ft. Carson. I wish I had known about it while stationed there but I'm sure the military would be happy to help with a wounded vet hunt out there. They have certain 'blocks' set aside for just archery and muzzleloader, but...
Whoops haha..... as for my archery, its not the best yet. Just got my bow at Christmas, but I'll be shooting everyday and at every angle I can think of until January. Luckily my javilina tag is in that sane unit so I should be able to come home with something lol
Bobbydean, I did have a strategy to it. New Mexico has a special oryx draw for returning combat veterans with about 25% draw odds, that's how I got that tag. The ibex was a little harder but the archery tags still have a decent draw odd.
Iam on their email list so I'll be jumping on that as soon as possible for my son. Wish I could get my wife a tag too since she struck out as well haha. I also know a couple people that have drawn that hunt so I'll be getting as much information as possible from them. If I find out anything...
Mcelweed do you know when the youth encouragement tags usually go on sale? I looked in the regs but couldn't find anything, my son struck out as well this year. But looks like you and I will be hunting oryx the same weekend.
